Yeovil game at home been selected by BT. 5.20pm kick off, hopefully start the season well and get the ground packed
I mean great for us but I'd be pretty annoyed with that decision if I was a Yeovil fan looking to travel to Barrow.

Re: Ian Evatt

I suspect we are overestimating how much attention people are paying to what goes on at Barrow. I can't remember the last time a manager moved on from us directly to a better job: the closest example was Kenny Lowe but that was more because he'd made the decision to emigrate. Other than that I can't...

Re: Chesterfield (a)

Was quite impressed with Angus. Lots of effort and a bit of skill too. One of those young wingers who needs to work on end-product but our livliest player today; hope we can retain him for the season.

Re: Away fans

We've also been in the league for 7 of the last 9 seasons, and around the top end of non-league for decades. There's a chunk of fans who might do longer away days once or twice to see the ground, but after that they'll only go to the shorter journeys. We're not interesting to anyone. Take next seaso...

Re: Half way stage of the season.

Looking at the 10 seasons prior to this one, the most points anyone's got and finished in the bottom four is 51; teams have also twice gone down on 50 points. The lowest anyone's survived on - ignoring teams reprieved due to sides going bust - is 45 points. Barrow have twice survived in 20th place, ...

Does Hornby own the club now then or what?
It's a bit unclear if it's him, or perhaps the Hornby family/company which has taken over? There is a statement due at midday which I guess will tell us more.

The full statement: “To all Barrow AFC supporters, To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. Ecclesiastes. After careful consideration, it is time for me to end my ownership of Barrow AFC. The plan was for this to take a bit more time, but when Paul Hornby stepp...

Re: Best for 50 years? In some ways, YES

I've not seen football of this quality , match after match, from Barrow in my lifetime (in my 30s!). We've had teams that are more effective in the past - that's been the reason we've dropped points in a few matches - but in terms of quality and attractiveness of football the past two months must be...

Re: Where will we finish

They start things off pretty intensively in the National League! 7 games in August, and we face the 3 teams who top the odds for the league - Salford and Chesterfield seem way out with most bookies, and Leyton Orient are 'best of the rest'. It'll be useful to get 4 points out of our opening 2 matche...

So, 2-3 final score - sounds like a good match. Any reports from those who were there?
