Re: BARROW V Solihull match thread

I can't recall the last time the players and the fans spent the last half hour of a Barrow match at HS basking in the sunshine on the beach.

If only we'd had Platt ten games ago . . . still, there's a long way to go yet.

Re: BARROW V HALIFAX match thread

Hope the guy who collapsed on the popular side is ok!! His head made an awful thud on the ground poor [SwearFilter] Thank you very much for your concern, Beachy. The gentleman is a pal of mine and I can tell you he is back home now and recuperating. I know him and his wife (who was also at the matc...

Re: BARROW V HALIFAX match thread

The wife has been complaining that I’m always in a bad mood when l come home from the football. She suggested that l walk home in order to cool down a bit and become more ‘normalised’ by the time l arrive home. So l took her advice and it seemed to work, l went via Roa Island but the principle rema...

Re: Lack of ball boys and girls ?

Why does the club not ask some of the adults to help out in exchange for free admission :o This thread has been debated on here before . . . going back four or five years in fact, or however long it is now since a ball-child was last seen adjacent to our touchlines. I did make the suggestion of hav...

Re: Barrow AFC v Eastleigh FC

It's true – and very obvious to anyone who saw him play – that Cowps lacked any sort of pace. When it came to running he was slow. His right foot was weak and he couldn't even flick marmalade with it. In the air, it was too often the case that when the ball was played long upfield to him he would mi...

Re: Music over PA

Yes, the music's not for me either. "Glad All Over" has too much of a premature celebratory feel to it for my liking. I never feel particularly glad all over when we are just the one goal up, and it was more like Shakin' All Over as we were coming under the cosh in the later stages and the nerves we...

Re: Barrow v Harrogate

Quite liked the new pull out tunnel until the same steward decided to pull it out before full time meaning that the view is completely blocked from behind the goal to the corner and beyond on the main stand and also from the other side of tunnel over the goal and corner on the popular side. When as...

Re: 40 Years of National League. Barrow v Yeovil

I remember this match so well, far more vividly than hundreds of matches that followed for years afterwards. It must be to do with the way memory operates . . . this match and this occasion was such a massive standout moment that it still burns brightly 40 years on. After 10 years of decline and use...

Re: Waddington signs

Chipmunx . . . you've asked who is 2nd from the right on the front row. Sorry, I haven't a clue. Even though I was ever-present last season I don't recognise any of them, no, not even one of them (well, okay, Ian Evatt I think, but he's facing the camera). The ears of the one 4th from the right on t...

Re: Photos of ground developments

Ian, can you take a brick by brick photo of the wall going up and then make it in to a montage? Thanks ????? And while he's at it, I suppose he could get his band together and produce a single to celebrate the process? Trouble is, if it's THAT single then it's going to be a cover version and we don...

Re: Cowps

I'm confused did we play City in 82 and 92 ? We played City in the aforementioned friendly in 1982. We also played them in July 1993 in a testimonial for our 1966-68 star Billy McAdams and that ended in a goalless draw. I think Peter Reid was City's manager then . . . . or at least he certainly fea...

Re: New Manager

After some of the football we've produced at times this season the Evatt news is the best thing for years and years but . . . . . Positivity is poison to some! There are those whose lives seem to thrive on being able to turn up on the Holker Street terraces and whinge and bellyache for 90 minutes. W...

Re: Cowps

Yes, that phenomenal strike from the late, great Mick Richmond! What a top-notch right full-back he was! From close to the centre-circle he weaved around a couple of Man City players and then unleashed a rocket into the top corner at the Crossbar End (the ASDA top corner). I wrote on here just a few...

At the end of that clip it appears that even quite a lot of the Pool fans are excited about it!
