Re: Eric Harrison RIP

After his spell at Utd he got a job sponsored by McDonalds running Soccer Schools around the country with Geoff Hurst. When I met them I said to Geoff " You may have scored a hat trick in a World Cup Final but you've never played for the mighty Barrow like this man" Geoff laughed and Eric went on to...

Re: Barrow v Bromley Match thread

Have the club officially said what injury
Josh Granite has ? How long is he expected to be out? Presuming Erico Sousa who we had on loan from Accrington went back to his parent club before Xmas, can't see anywhere where that was mentioned.

Re: U21s v Fylde tonight

I'd love to see a Barrow team full of Barrovians so full marks to the club for running the Under 21 team but the reality of the situation is if these players want to be playing for the first team there's no way they're going to be able to make the step up from the current set up. They need to be pla...

Re: Andy Firth

If Firth's going I wonder if we'll make a move for the former Torquay United keeper Dan Lavercombe. He was with us preseason worked with Peter Atherton at Wigan.

Re: New Signing

Many moons ago I followed the fortunes of Northampton Town when Terry Angus played for the Cobblers. Terry was always a true gentleman, a really nice bloke. Years later I'm back in Barrow during an October half term break and got to see Barrow against Nuneaton in an FA Cup replay, and it's probably ...

Re: Three things

My understanding is that every club should have AFC after their name but only some use it. All club's are Association Football Clubs If they've passed the required FA rules. I think during our financial problems a few years ago we technically weren't AFC for a few months. The clubs that tend to use t...

Re: Three things

What I find annoying about Radio Cumbria's Workington reference is they should be called Workington or The Reds but not both together. There isn't a side called Workington Reds. They're Workington and their nickname is the Reds .You wouldn't have a BBC reporter at any other station in the country inc...

Three things

1.With Leyton Orient through to the third round of the Trophy it means our home game on Saturday February 2nd will have to be rearranged which is a shame because I cant see many travelling fans making the trip on a Tuesday night. 2.Nice to see Halifax our next opponents this Saturday will now have t...

Solihull taken to extra time

Nice to see Solihull's FA Cup match with Blackpool tonight (Tuesday) went to extra time. The last time we played a side on the Saturday who'd played an extended FA Cup tie in the midweek leading up to the game was when we won 2-0 at Aldershot. Tonight's match was shown on BT and both sides were suff...

Re: BARROW V Halifax match thread

I could never get my head around Darren Edmondson's decision to rotate players against Runcorn Linnets in the FA Cup a few years ago. Last season Bristol City reached the semi-final of the Carabao Cup, were going well in the Championship but their Manager Lee Johnson decided to make wholesale change...

Re: BARROW V Halifax match thread

Six thousand pounds to the winners, possible run to a Wembley final yet we make seven changes, very surprised to say the least. I'd of thought as we aren't in the FA Cup we'd have taken this competition seriously and put out our strongest possible team it will be interesting to see what the starting...

Evening Mail -Wrong photo

Having read the club's twitter page am I right in thinking the Mail published a photo of "Barrow's" players visiting the Children's Ward at supposedly Furness General Hospital but in fact the picture they printed was in fact Wrexham players at a Welsh hospital.Another example of the demise of the lo...

Suffolk Blue full marks for making the trip to Holker Street. I didn't realise southern based fans were regulars at home games I thought you only did the "down south" circuit.

Re: Half way stage of the season.

Just checked after 23 games last season we had 25 points and were occupying 18th place. Woking who of course got relegated had an impressive 33 and were in 12th spot.

Half way stage of the season.

Tomorrow will be our 23rd League game of a 46 match campaign.

We currently have 25 points so can reach the half way stage with a maximum of 28. Does anyone have the stats for how this campaign compares with others in the National League ?
