Re: Maidenhead v Barrow

I do apologise if asking about the club's financial situation is perceived by some people on this forum as being negative. Having said that some of the people that seem upset by me asking these questions were the same ones accusing me of being Paul Casson a few months ago so what the hell do they kn...

Re: Maidenhead v Barrow

I seem to recall the Cassons buying the club for what Holker Street was valued at the time. I think the sum of 630 thousand was mentioned. The new owners which of course also includes the Trust, paid, I think I'm right in suggesting, 500k so maybe this came with some debt. As in the Cassons wanted t...

Re: Maidenhead v Barrow

I've noticed in Manager and Board interviews there's often a reference about uncovering debts. I thought the previous regime had left the club "debt free" I thought that had been what had been implied when the new board took over but from listening to recent interviews that appears not to have been ...

Re: BARROW v Dover match thread

Other teams take a two nil lead against us, it's game over but when we go two up you're always hoping we can hang on. This season has been a success because we've stayed up with a lot to spare but if we're to become serious play off contenders next season we need wholesale changes.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area

I don't know how much it would cost but has the club ever considered pressure washing the terracing ? I'd imagine it's never been done and I'm sure it would make the ground look a lot better. A cathedral where I live has recently had the once over and it's transformed the place. Keep up the good wor...

Re: BARNET x BARROW match thread

Positives from today's game 1. I thought Hardcastle had a decent first half. Rooney was solid and Turner played well when he came on. 2. They had a clear penalty that wasn't given. 3 The facilities were good for the away support.Decent bar, toilet facilities, and Viewing position was reasonable. Neg...

Re: Barnet rip-off

I actually started a thread on the Barnet fans forum earlier this week to make the same point. Barnet supporters are clearly aware of the situation as it's been a massive talking point among visiting fans. There was talk that Dagenham and Redbridge Supporters Club were making some type of official c...

Re: D&R away

I thought club's had to charge away supporters the same they charge home fans yet I see Barnet's cheapest Adult ticket in the home end for Saturday's game with us is £10 yet the cheapest away ticket is £20. Seems wrong.

Re: Eric Harrison RIP

After his spell at Utd he got a job sponsored by McDonalds running Soccer Schools around the country with Geoff Hurst. When I met them I said to Geoff " You may have scored a hat trick in a World Cup Final but you've never played for the mighty Barrow like this man" Geoff laughed and Eric went on to...

Re: Barrow v Bromley Match thread

Have the club officially said what injury
Josh Granite has ? How long is he expected to be out? Presuming Erico Sousa who we had on loan from Accrington went back to his parent club before Xmas, can't see anywhere where that was mentioned.

Re: U21s v Fylde tonight

I'd love to see a Barrow team full of Barrovians so full marks to the club for running the Under 21 team but the reality of the situation is if these players want to be playing for the first team there's no way they're going to be able to make the step up from the current set up. They need to be pla...

If Firth's going I wonder if we'll make a move for the former Torquay United keeper Dan Lavercombe. He was with us preseason worked with Peter Atherton at Wigan.

Re: New Signing

Many moons ago I followed the fortunes of Northampton Town when Terry Angus played for the Cobblers. Terry was always a true gentleman, a really nice bloke. Years later I'm back in Barrow during an October half term break and got to see Barrow against Nuneaton in an FA Cup replay, and it's probably ...

Re: Three things

My understanding is that every club should have AFC after their name but only some use it. All club's are Association Football Clubs If they've passed the required FA rules. I think during our financial problems a few years ago we technically weren't AFC for a few months. The clubs that tend to use t...
