Re: 2019-2020 Squad - what do we need ro change?

The budget doesn't dictate how we play, though. The manager, and the players he acquires within that budget, dictate that. Hoof ball isn't necessarily any more expensive, or for that matter cheaper, than Ian Evett's chosen style. Agree! Jo we have had big sides try to bully us on more than one occa...

Longest serving player

Just read Joel Dixon has signed a one year deal, with an option for another year. Quite like him - our longest serving player by far - signed in 2015. Capable of making excellent saves, but prone to the occasional error (aren’t all goalies?), but been pretty good this year, and his kicking/distribut...

Re: 2019-2020 Squad - what do we need ro change?

Fans will shout things that others don't agree with. Some will sit and support quietly during the game. All celebrate a goal. All supporting the team in their own way. I wouldn't get frustrated on someone shouting something that I didn't agree with though. Its football and fans have opinions on wha...

Re: 2019-2020 Squad - what do we need ro change

This squad and management have performed brilliantly this season. With a bit of fortune we would be higher so we’ll done all. As for the question ...... that is not ours to make. Ian Evatt and co will make these qualified decisions as they should being far more qualified and experienced. The manage...

Re: BARROW v Dover match thread

Yesterday I don’t think there was any lack of effort (and that goes for most of the season), and I don’t see the capitulation to Dover as the manager’s fault. As I see it it’s really simple - virtually all of our players have something about them, but too many just aren’t consistent enough, and argu...

Re: BARROW v Dover match thread

Another odd game at Holker St. Cruising at 2-0 up, then a substitution when Jeffrey came on and changed the game. Made one, scored one with devastating pace. Somehow when the first Dover goal went in, you knew we’d lose 3-2. Barrow dominated them at times, but they worked us out and were the better ...

Re: Hartlepool fancy dress last home game

Have been very near a season ticket for a few years....But...I tend to come to matches with a couple of regulars who could justify doing the same, but we are joined by a few “floaters” quite often, but not regularly. They probably couldn’t sit with us if we had designated season ticket seats...or h...

Re: Hartlepool fancy dress last home game

Will there be allocated seats in the stand for Barrow fans? Or a free-for-all once ticket(s) have been bought, e.g online. Might be a bit chaotic if the latter. I might be mistaken, but I think there will be a bumper crowd. Pay to reserve your seat for the season. Saves all the hassle at times like...

Re: 2019-2020 Squad - what do we need ro change?

Too early to speculate about contracted players staying/going, and too early to indicate preferences regarding them while this season is still underway. As we all know this league is packed with journeymen, and there is a great deal of movement in the close season; most players are on very short ter...

Re: Hartlepool fancy dress last home game

All a bit mad at the moment.....perhaps we can get something sorted out officially, then work to that at our end, and then have a huge turn out of Barrovians on the day to create a special atmosphere.....

Re: BARROW V Boreham wood match thread

Puzzling game in many ways. First 20 they were really good - playing a fast pressing game which totally prevented our usual fluid passing. We resorted to long useless balls forward and were completely out of it. Then a turnaround when we were finally able to move the ball around after about 1/2 hour...

Re: Lewis Hardcastle signs on

I’m really impressed with this for a number of reasons. As a young lad he will hope to do really well in his footballing career. The fact he’s signed for Barrow hopefully shows that he (and anyone advising him) has confidence in what might lie in wait at Holker Street in the immediate future. Additi...

Re: Ian Evatt

Personally I just think it’s necessary to be realistic. These posts are not pessimistic. I think Evatt is a really decent bloke with Barrow at heart. Despite that he’ll go elsewhere if he continues to do well. His ultimate aspirations would not have rested with managing Barrow, and going no further....

Re: Ian Evatt

It’s one of the things about being football minnows. We love the club, we love it when we do well, when we have a good cup run, when there appears to be stability. If a manager is obviously excellent (in my opinion we have a superb manager in several respects), if a player is capable of playing at a...
