Re: BARROW V Yeovil match thread

I’ve said many times before that the wind plays a huge part at this level. Another hooley blowing today, and another poor spectacle, but undeniably a good result. Yeovil were crap, Barrow less crap. Sorry to say I can understand why folk don’t turn out to pay to watch. Hopefully we can improve in ma...

Re: BARROW V Yeovil match thread

A VERY attacking lineup.
No Kay though, and no Harrison.

No mention of how much Progression Solicitors have paid. Earlier this year on the AFC website the cost of naming rights for Holker Street was stated as £35000.I wonder if we got that much?
£28,000

Re: Music over PA

My preference is no music after goals. Too American, and therefore cheap and nasty and not in keeping with what we are doing.
Not bothered enough to make a song and dance (no pun intended) about it though.
Music before hand is too loud IMHO

Re: Barrow AFC v Eastleigh FC

Yes, well done to bounce back playing mean (not pretty) football. A team picked for the conditions I think. Much better defending. Dixon was solid apart from his kicking which was poor again, but very difficult conditions.
A resolute team performance and a well deserved win

Re: prediction v eastleigh

I fear a loss if Eastleigh are geared up to play the ball in the air.
The word will have gone out that we can’t defend set pieces and that our defensive capabilities are limited, particularly in the air.

Re: prediction v eastleigh

Who would you play as your back 3? Hopefully get a decently loanee in from a league club but until we do id drop taylor back Sorry, but not a chance. In the friendlies he looked slower, but seeing him last night he has lost at least a yard of pace. That means he won’t get to balls he would have don...

Re: Barrow v Harrogate

I have been a committed supporter for many years, but just wondering if I’ve been conned with pre season propaganda about how good we were going to be this year, and pushing for promotion. I’ve just witnessed a very poor display. My concern is that the players just aren’t good enough, irrespective o...

Re: Ollie Dyson

Still need a left back - we will miss Dan Jones - Brown seems improved but is limited, no left foot - teams will suss him out quickly (as they did last year ) and he will try and kick opponents off the pitch (again).

Didn’t you see Brough play yesterday?

Re: Barrow v Sheffield United U23s

Impressive performance. No weak links at all, and some excellent football played. Difficult to know how good or not the opposition were, but when they had the ball the closing down from Barrow was noticeable, and they never settled on the ball. 3-1 a proper reflection on how well Barrow played. Stan...

Re: Harrison signed on one year deal with option for another

I rate Harrison as a player. He has it in him to be good in his second stint with Barrow. I think a lot of whether he plays to his potential is in his head. I’ve seen two friendlies so far and he’s looked good. At his worst (when not fully fit) he looked lazy and disinterested, and lost a lot of fan...

Re: Barrow v Blackpool

Yes. It was quite something to see Paul Hornby, dressed in suit, carrying 3 big packs of beer/cider from one end of the stand to the other. Not many other chairmen to be seen doing that sort of thing worldwide....all adds to the feelgood factor.

Re: Barrow v Blackpool

I'm still worried about a CB/LB. Think we desperately need cover for these positions. As proved yesterday, Brough was ill so Brown was needed at Left Back. Which leaves 0 cover for full back positions as I don't think Granite, Hird, Eldson can do it there. I thought Brown did quite well yesterday. ...
