Re: Havant v BARROW match thread

Well, along with the Barnet home game that's the worst I've seen us all season. Didn't get our game going at all, and apart from a header cleared off the line at 1-0 we never looked like scoring. It was a very poor game of football in truth, and Havant were as bad as anything I've ever seen at this ...

Re: Another poor crowd today

700-800 is now our hardcore and has been for a number of years now. Our support has been ageing and historically we've done absolutely nothing worthwhile to attract new or younger supporters, and by and large that continues to be the case. If you were a teenager in Barrow why would you suddenly deci...

Re: BARROW V Wrexham match thread

All them reasons will, and always have affected attendances but I think it’s more disappointing for the simple reason the new owners need people through the gates. If they don’t get people to attend then the only alternative will be for budget cuts, lesser players, smaller squads and more than like...

Re: Ebbsfleet v Bluebirds

I have to say...and this may prove to be an unpopular opinion but we can’t continue to play with both Rooney & Taylor in the side. For me, we need to have a sitting midfielder (Taylor) and then two who can be more creative and look to move the ball forward and be positive. Those two need to be Kay ...

Re: Ebbsfleet v Bluebirds

We say it every week, but if ever there was an example of us dominating a game but failing to capitalise that was it. It's virtually impossible to dominate a game that much but fail to score, yet we somehow achieved it. Ebbsfleet couldn't have argued had we won by 3 or 4 clear goals, very frustrating.

Re: Club Statement: New Chairman - Paul Hornby

The bottom line is we are much better much stronger than we were and for that, I thank him. Are we really? How? Genuine question because I would beg to differ. The club is no more sustainable now than it was before he took over, he's leaving behind absolutely nothing in terms of structure or improv...

Re: Updated Statement From Andrew Casson

A farcical statement typical of AC's involvement with the club.

It neither serves any purpose at all or tells us anything useful.

Re: Club Statement: New Owner - Paul Hornby

What hasn't been clarified in either of the statements is what is happening to the actual ownership of the club. The fact that nothing has been mentioned might suggest that although Casson is stepping down as chairman he will retain ownership of the club and its assets, including the ground. That's ...

Re: Club Statement: New Owner - Paul Hornby

What an absoluteley awful post. The guy put millions into the club just to keep it going and I for one thank him and wish him well But what was the point? What have we been left with? Not what was promised that's for sure. He and his family had money and chose to spend it on the football club, I se...

Re: Club Statement: New Owner - Paul Hornby

A heartfelt thanks to Paul and his family for all they have done whilst at Barrow AFC. Without them there would be no club Let's not start with that nonsense. In all likelihood, there would still have been a club. We almost certainly would not have been at this level, but there would still have bee...

Re: Away to Bromley match thread

Evatt seems to rate Jones at centre half very highly, but I have to say I can't for the life of me see why. He's had a couple of OK games there from what I've seen but isn't anywhere near strong enough and neither he or Granite are big enough. If you were a centre forward in this league and you line...

Re: Away to Bromley team news

Worst we've been all season, but still you could argue we deserved a point.

We really couldn't get our game going today, similar to Maidstone where we also lost. 3G has a lot to do with that, awful surface and makes for a totally different game of football.

Who did the barriers on the pop side all those years ago?
Sterling Fabrications, who the club then never paid for the work and who then got a winding up order issued against the club for non-payment if I remember correctly.

Re: Dover v Barrow match thread

Excellent result, decent performance. In all honesty, today was a carbon copy of every other game I've seen this season (except Salford) in that we were by far the better side and on sheer possession deserved to win the game comfortably. For large parts we again were frustrating and failed to conver...

Re: Barrow v Gateshead

Sat-Tues home games always results in a low turn out on the Tuesday. Also United being on TV always seems to knock a few of the number. Not point scoring but in the nineties it was the opposite! I always think that whenever anyone says Tuesday night crowds are always low. It's not that long ago at ...
