Re: Today’s Game

Modeste is the only one. The next international matches are for the date that the Preston Lancs cup match was to be on. That has now been brought forward a week at Barrow's request, quite possibly so we can rearrange the Dover game for that date. If Suffolk Blue reads back a few pages he'll see tha...

Re: Today’s Game

How's this for a bit of reverse conspiracy. We will still be in an international qualifying window in November (both in Europe and beyond). By resetting the Dover game for a month backwards it is quite possible that those of their players that were unavailable for Saturdays fixture (Ricky Modeste e...

Re: Fylde Approach for IE

Read this today. Chairman David Haythornthwaite has stressed the importance of finding the right person for the role, and not rush the appointment of AFC Fylde manager. Speaking to BBC Lancashire on Monday morning, the AFC Fylde Chairman touched on a few areas surrounding Dave Challinor’s replacemen...

Re: Good Week or Bad Week?

Bad week definitely; we’ve really come across badly in most media coverage of the incidents around Saturday which is all other clubs fans etc etc will see And hopefully it won’t affect us but last year we were blooming awful the week after a postponed game Sorry to keep butting in HK. Attitudes ten...

Re: Good Week or Bad Week?

Good week in that we keep hold of our prized asset, but bad in how Dover and the media have over milked the situation. And for some reason keep fanning the flames. Except for a flippant remark on social media by an obvious youth that is beyond the clubs control and someone venting their understanda...

Re: Today’s Game

This is a classic example of how to spin a story. Abuse is far more of a topical issue than any of the problems we might have suffered. As soon as the comments were made in whatever context, any Dover apologists were given all the ammunition they needed to turn the tables on the story. When will we ...

Good Week or Bad Week?

Reflecting on the last few days it is tempting to see events in a predictably negative way i.e. the shambolic behaviour by an opposing team towards playing us, the loss of a record breaking opportunity, the loss of revenue and the disrupted momentum, plus the accompanying frustration and anger ultim...

Re: Fylde Approach for IE

Was mega impressed with the wording of the statement put out by Paul Hornby which was brief and to the point. The inclusion of IE in the comments could only have been done with his involvement and blessing and left little room for any doubt. As far as Fylde are concerned the forum has had plenty of ...

Re: Scott Quigley

Looking better and better and seemed to have added real pace at Chorley to his physical presence and height. I think he now offers more to us than Richie Bennett did in Cox's heyday. Some of the initial comments on this thread are now looking a bit embarrassing though I have to admit that the genera...

Re: BARROW v Maidenhead match thread

What was it like being a child on the terraces in 1904-05 PJ? On BT Sports they referred to the last time Barrow won five consecutive league games (at NL level or higher) as being 1968. After a little bit of research I think they are correct and that the 5 wins were recorded in our first season in D...

Re: prediction v bromley away sat

Draw of any kind would be good. I think this will be the first plastic pitch of our season. However Bromley will need to find a goalie from somewhere as their only keeper was stretchered off at Yeovil today and will not return for some months. Could make things interesting.

Re: BARROW v Maidenhead match thread

I totally understand strikers being greedy but Quigley should’ve given Angus the ball in that situation. Got to feel for Dior at the moment as he never stops and causes all sorts of problems for opposing teams and he absolutely deserves a few goals. They didn’t threaten too much although I felt lik...

Re: Chorley v Barrow match thread

If anyone criticises holker st again on hear I’ll suggest they take a trip to victory park and see what a dump that is The away end is literally better than ours.......Just by having a roof Think I'm a decent indicator of the quality of a ground. If I like it its almost certainly a rubble heap. Sta...

Re: Home Attendances

Another factor is the lack of promotion in the wider community by the current owners. Other than the ground itself there is no visible evidence that we have a decent football club in town. Having said that it was always thus. This is a "well ploughed field". I have to say that in terms of on field ...
