Re: CHORLEY V BARROW

Financially that defeat has cost the club a small fortune. 25k was on offer to today's winners. A run to say just the second round, yes not the third would with gate revenues and extra merchandise sales brought in around £125 k. That I'm sure could have had a huge impact on trying to balance the boo...

Re: The Mail

I think the Mail's days as a daily are numbered most local papers are now sadly weekly. The thickness of a paper is determined by how much advertising it carries. You can always tell a paper is in trouble when it gets thinner. I think the paper is now printed would you believe in Scotland. As for Ba...

Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.

I'm generalising here but I think where the John Goodwin misunderstanding has probably come about is that John was talking about we need to focus on results more than in his words " tippy, tappy " football and Ian Evatt has probably thought what does this guy know about football as he's never played...

Re: Tickets for tomorrow (Salford)

I see it's only £10 that's great value for money. Football in general is far too highly priced in my view to get floating fans interested.

Re: 70s pre season tour of Scotland

I seem to recall having read on this site in the past that a strike in "the Yard" had a big knock on effect lowering attendances in late 60's early 70's. Was the Chairman or President of the club at the time called Richardson ? and was boss at Vickers at the time. And was there another board member ...

Does anyone know how much debt we were in when we lost our League status in 1972 ?

Re: 70s pre season tour of Scotland

Reading the earlier posts and with reference to unforgettable moments can anyone remember Tony Hatley in the Ron Yeats era telling or should that be shouting out to a Barrow fan who was giving him stick to F:!k off. What made it embarrassing at the time was that Holker Street was completely quiet at...

Re: 70s pre season tour of Scotland

We definitely played at Dunfermline Athletic in a preseason game possibly early 70's the reason I know was I was a kid at the time and was on a family holiday in nearby Alloa but didn't go to the match because my Dad and I didn't know about the game in those pre-internet days until the following day.

Re: praise the lord.

When I saw the list of possible future Managers I must admit I would have gone at the time for the Welsh bloke Kevin Nicholson but credit where credit is due what a brilliant appointment Ian Evatt has been. What a transformation it was only a few short weeks ago that people were having a moan on thi...
