Re: Ian Evatt

If this is true, it would be the best thing that's happened to this club in a long long time. You cant deliver sustained performance without laying down foundations and IE has shown he can build effectively based on skill and ability and not just by throwing money at the challenge. Top half finish, ...

Re: Home Attendances

In case we think the attendance thing is a peculiarly Barrovian thing - Gate at Barnet tonight in a very important match (in their nice new shiny stadium) against Harrogate Town tonight - 849

Re: Dan Jones

Clearly any defence would ideally need to be built around Jason Taylor - retaining his service I would agree is a higher priority. Taylor is a midfielder....or are you advocating moving him into defence next season? Point taken. I would rephrase my comment as follows " Clearly any team would ideall...

Re: Dan Jones

Finances aside, I would be surprised if IE would want to part with him. IE has continually talked about building from a retained core for next season. Clearly any defence would ideally need to be built around Jason Taylor - retaining his service I would agree is a higher priority. But Dan Jones now ...

Re: Home Attendances

Catchment areas again? Look at the difference in the views expressed regarding the Dover catchment area. Is it 30000 or 100,000? Obviously depends how you measure it. If you believe that the Dover catchment area extends as far west as Canterbury, includes Folkestone and Ramsgate and Whitstable then ...

Re: Home Attendances

As others have said the club (speaking across all regimes) has come up with some good ideas to boost attendances but hasn't persisted with them and have given up when the first attempt wasn't as successful as first hoped. You can't properly judge whether something was successful after one gameweek,...

Re: Home Attendances

Dont think this is as much a conundrum as some make out. Sometimes Barrovians fall into the trap of believing their own "press" i.e. remote, miserable, cant be bothered, no disposable income etc. Almost as if it were some kind of unique condition that we are cursed with. To my mind the root cause of...

Re: Any news on Nathan's return

I've read a report today that states that Nathan has done his MCL and ACL whilst at Alty and that's him done for the season. Dont know what this means for his retention prospects. But it cant be good.

Eric Harrison played for Barrow the entire time that Colin Appleton managed Barrow.
You are right salt cellar. I should've checked my memories with my programme collection. Strange I remember him at the beginning and the end but not so much in the middle of that period.

Re: Eric Harrison RIP

When Jimmy Mallon passed away there were some great memories expressed regarding how good Mallon and Edwards were in that 66/67 promotion winning side. Imagine then those two full-backs efectively playing as wing-backs before the term really existed with Eric Harrison and George Smith holding the de...

Re: Agustien gone

A great shame we didn't have the Newby boys as this manager would have made something of them. Elliot has scored 6 goals from midfield for Chorley and was player of the year while Alex has now got 14. Both local boys who I would guess would have progressed uner Ian Evatt as they seem to be doing at...

Re: Barrow v Bromley Match thread

It's too early to be talking about next season it is only February, a lot can happen between now and the end of this season. I was about to post similar. We should not be discussing retained list in February. Other than perhaps a couple of posts above, I dont think we are seriously discussing the r...

Re: Barrow v Bromley Match thread

Well its all got a bit grey, gloomy and miserable on the forum all of a sudden to match the February weather! So much gloomier than on that warm and pleasant afternoon in April when an overpaid disinterested rump of a squad did its damndest to get itself relegated against a Chester side bankrupt and...
