Just cemented himself in Barrow AFC's all time list of top blokes with that gesture.

They'll get us out of this with this sort of attitude.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

If we've paid off the bill, could somebody mention my overdraft to him?

In seriousness, though, he's my new favourite person. I know the BoD have put money into the club themselves, as have the fans - but how often do you see staff offering to help out their employer?

I wonder if the bod would have preffered it not to come out that Hoskin has made this offer as now they surely can't not take him up on the offer, and if they do they may be humiliated to have been bailed out by staff. Has Bayles revealed this to force there hand in taking the offer obv as he wants rid of the embargo to get players in. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it?

Edited for typos

Is this for real or was it one of those great DB tongue in cheek moments?

I was being asked if I wanted a brew at the time so missed a little of what DB said.

He definitely said it but must admit I was wondering if it was just a "DB" moment.

Hats off to hoskin if it is right though, a wonderful gesture

From Lee Proctor on twitter: "Had it confirmed that BarrowAFC assistant boss Ash Hoskin offered to pay tax bill to get club out of embargo. Dave Bayliss wouldn't let him"

A fantastic gesture even if it wasn't taken up.

If the board accept then he and DB have them over a barrel basically preventing a sacking.

If they don't then they put it into the public domain, fans think they are amazing and buys them some more time.

Win win situation.

That is atrocious & an insulting accusation to a very kind offer.

Never mind his offer to bail the club out, I 've just bought an evening mail and upon turning to the back page what do i find facing me? I'll tell you what! A middle aged bald bloke hands thrust deep into his coat pocket on a bitterly cold january night wearing football boots, football socks and football shorts!!
hanging out of these shorts are a pair of what can only be described as stumpy, flabby little white legs!!
To be fair to him he's not the only past it ex football manager/coach who dresses in this manner, but for the love of god, why do they do this??
AAAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!
