Barrow's losing streak continues as we concede cheaply and create little

Barrow: Dixon, Brown, Norrington-Davies, Granite, Wilson, Dan Jones, Burgess, Agustien, Turner, Smith, Sousa
Half Time: Kay replaced Burgess, Rooney replaced Jones
66: Hindle replaced Turner

Booked: Jones (7, foul on Yeates); Brown (81, foul on Johnson)

Eastleigh: Stryjek, Hare, Johnson, McCallum, Yeates, Boyce, Wynter, Miley, Williamson, Hollands, Joey Jones
80: Dennett replaced Williamson
85: Gobern replaced Yeates
89: Bearwish replaced McCallum

Booked: McCallum (51, foul on Wilson); Jones (53); Johnson (55)

GOALS: McCallum (14,48), Williamson (42)

After a run of defeats, a low on confidence Barrow conceded three Eastleigh goals cheaply and struggled to make any inroads in attack. With teams below us being held to draws, we are still in 17th- but are only three points above the drop zone.

Barrow started badly, giving balls away too easily and in the 7th minute Dan Jones was booked for a foul on winger Mark Yeates. Another seven minutes later, Eastleigh's first goal was as direct as they come, goalkeeper Maksynilian Stryjek launching the ball upfield to Paul McCallum who lobbed the ball over a stranded Joel Dixon.

Jones committed another foul in the 22nd minute, this time on Ben Williamson, Yeates' free kick forcing a save from Dixon.

A minute later, Stryjek saved a close range shot at the near post from Luke Burgess but that Barrow opportunity proved to be a rarity. Danny Hollands avoided a yellow card for a bad foul on Connor Brown, probably due to Brown's push in retaliation.

In the 42nd minute, Brian Wilson fouled Williamson near the right corner flag, Eastleigh's free kick sailing over to the far post where the ball was centred for Williamson to tap in Eastleigh's second.

In the second minute of time added, a Rhys Turner shot was deflected against the left post and out for a corner. The corner, played short, amounted to nothing- much like the Bluebird's first half performance.

Barrow made two changes at half time, Josh Kay and John Rooney coming on for Burgess and Jones. However, within three minutes of the restart our lack of marking cost us again as Yeates crossed for McCallum to head home his second.

A rash of bookings for Eastleigh players Paul McCallum, Joey Jones and Reda Johnson in the first ten minutes of the second period suggested a Barrow rally of sorts, as did a ball from Kay which gave Turner a shot into the side netting. In the 64th minute, a 25 yard shot from Josh Kay was saved and then Jack Hindle came on for Turner to complete Barrow's changes with Eastleigh's original eleven still on the pitch. Although we were now playing with more sense of purpose, the improvement was relative to the woeful start. In the 70th minute, Stryjek had to punch over an Erico Sousa shot in the 70th minute for a corner.

Dixon had to save at close range from Cavaghn Miley in the 77th minute and two minutes later at the other end Tyler Smith went down in the area. Whether foul or dive, neither was given and Eastleigh made their three substitutions in the final ten minutes.

The attendance was 1,102 including 48 visiting fans and home debutant Kemy Agustien was awarded Barrow's man of the match.

As an Agustien free kick sailed over the bar in the second minute of added time at the end, even a consolation proved too much for Barrow to achieve after a dismal performance. Eastleigh climb to 9th and we are looking over our shoulder at relegation. Improvements are needed- and fast!
