On page two of this thread there's a photo of what looks like a store room. Was this under the BDF shop and if so how did you get into it ?

That's some work you lot are putting in put in, you're a credit to the club. I never thought I would get so excited about seeing photographs of refurbished away toilets.I really must get out more, ha

What are the forum names of the volunteers in the photos? I know a couple of them but not the others. Great work you’re all doing!

That storeroom was as you say, under the Trust shop. There were two turnstiles also under there (the best in the ground, never understood why they weren’t used) and that storeroom was to the right as you went through the turnstiles.
That storeroom was the area that was going to be given to us in 2013 as a workshop, we ended up with something fifty times bigger.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Bit of ground history for you. That that storeroom under the trust shop was the point where all gate monies from around the ground were taken on match day, the Trust Shop had a hatch in the floor that would open up, a bag / bucket was lowered, the gate money put in and lifted up into the Trust shop which back in the day, was used as an office for counting the match day gate receipts. So there you go- Holker Street factoid for you.

I hope the guys can rescue the turnstiles. They are antiques and well worth saving.

Also.... These are probably the most significant ground alterations done in the last 25 years. Certainly since the main stand went up. I’m enjoying these updates! Keep the photos rolling in!

Any visuals of the state of the foundations under West Terrace ( if there were any hollows / voids), as may give an good indication of what it is likely to be similar under HSE.

Aren't those turnstiles fairly modern ones? I can remember the brick entrances housing them being built, around the late 50s / early 60s when my Dad used to take me. I can just about remember the old entrances which were wooden and - even to a nipper - looked well past their use by date.

It's quite likely that the turnstiles themselves weren't replaced though, so they could well be quite ancient - perhaps we should give the Antiques Roadshow a call?

As an aside, it cost 9d (about 4p) for a youngster to get in - and the change from the 1/- (5p) my Dad gave me went straight into the collecting bucket. The club was skint even then!

I wouldn't call any turnstile fitted in the 50's fairly modern.
They are however in reasonably good condition and will be refurbished and reused
