2 - 1.

Rooney pen and looping header from the young blades.
We'll keep the blue flag flying here...

Just what I wanted to see a week before the action starts. Solid performances all round.

Do we think that’s pretty much the starting 11 v Wrexham?

Impressive performance. No weak links at all, and some excellent football played. Difficult to know how good or not the opposition were, but when they had the ball the closing down from Barrow was noticeable, and they never settled on the ball.
3-1 a proper reflection on how well Barrow played. Standouts for me were the two fullbacks Barry and Brough, and Rooney was tireless in attack and defence; a worthy mom.

Definitely. Hardcastle limped off, so might be Greaves that starts instead.

Looked good first half today Barrow. Second half was a bit boring wasn’t it. But played good stuff first half. Impressed with it

Good PR as well given Sheff Utds willingness to give us some of their better U-23s. Hopefully we will have demonstrated why we are such a useful destination. Nice to see it coming together though at the right time.

For the record Wrexham lost 0-1 at home to Crewe today. No shame in that of course though their forum was less than delighted with their performance and in particular their ability to create goal-scoring opportunities. They certainly have a better than average squad but I'm not sure that they've entirely settled on their best 11 yet. Wrexham fans always seem to place a great weight of expectation on their team and this season will be no different. In previous seasons this has seemed to act as a bit of a millstone around their necks. So they'll have every expectation of righting the "anomaly" of last seasons meeting.

In truth our record versus Wrexham in recent years has been surprisingly good. Next week therefore promises to be a very interesting encounter. Hopefully we can come in under their radar again. They dont like it up 'em you know.

Some simply exquisite interplay especially in the first half. Dior Angus looked a real threat from the off and got his just rewards. Looked more resolute at the back although we are still susceptible to genuine pace. Hardcastle, Kay and Rooney pulling the strings with Taylor the interceptor and how important a role his is. Early days but showed signs that things are starting to mesh as a unit.
