Have we got anyone at the club who can teach game management?
Chesterfield FC (A) match thread
Re: Chesterfield FC (A) match thread
Awful game management! First half looked like Barcelona, Angus and Dyson causing havoc. Missed 3 golden chances including a decent penalty shout before they went down the other end got a soft penalty making it 2-1. The gameplan went to pot second half, never seen a team look that comfortable and go on to nearly lose the game. The players looked devastated when the second went in and at full time, some serious issues need addressing urgently.
Play like they did first half and they'll be a play off side. 2nd half they'll finish bottom half

That’s an issue right there folks. Other teams finding another gear after half time and we seem to go the other way.

Re: Chesterfield FC (A) match thread
Unfortunately, this is the first season for some time that we haven't got one outstanding defender. Last season we had Jones and Norrington-Davies and before that we've had the likes of Dunne, Livesey, Anderton. Even Moussa Diarra was far superior to anything we have now and it is going to be a big problem unless at least one decent central defender is signed.

Re: Chesterfield FC (A) match thread
Seems like we need to sign 11 players who can last for 90 minutes (or 96 minutes in the case of this match).
Time and time again we score early goals, only for our game plan / weaknesses to be sussed by the opposition

Re: Chesterfield FC (A) match thread
Early days, don't panic. The league is very even - it's amazing that after 6 matches only 7 teams have won more than 2 games! I would be more concerned if we were playing rubbish and looking clueless for 90 minutes.

Re: Chesterfield FC (A) match thread
Do we have any statto types who could tell us how many points Evatt teams have a) won from behind versus b) dropped from being in front?
FWIW, we’ve lost Barthram, RND, Jones and Jameson from the squad who featured regularly in defence last season. The early changes in formation and shuffling personnel won’t help either but if we can get a settled unit and some cohesiveness at the back then we’ll do a bit better. It’s not rocket science, just needs a bit of patience.

Evatt challenged Adam in last night's post-match interview when Adam asked if we needed more defenders. Evatt asked if he thought we had defended badly and said, in his (Evatt's) opinion, that we defended ok but conceded from two mistakes - a silly challenge for the penalty and a header that Joel should have saved. He said if we could put away chances we would be winning 6-2. Worth a listen if it's available online.Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 10:39 am Do we have any statto types who could tell us how many points Evatt teams have a) won from behind versus b) dropped from being in front?

Listening to yesterday's match, the turning point was surely giving away a penalty in first half stoppage time. A home team would be bound to come at you in the second half in those circumstances.

We always seem to look clueless for 45 minutes Jim.

"We need to get it right at the back" "We need to get it right at the front" "Its not good enough and there will be some changes"
Same old...same old.

To be fair we have a reduced budget and unfortunately we are tied by this , the reality is the way we play we're always at risk at conceding goals it's the nature of the beast. I for one think we are doing ok !barrowfan wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 11:51 amEvatt's answers are always the same wrapped up in different words.Jim wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 11:15 am
