Re: John Woods

John's funeral was last Friday but obviously, and understandably in the present circumstances, none of us were able to attend. Once football begins again we are planning to sponsor a game in John's memory and give him the send off that he deserves. I will post details when we get to a point when we ...

Re: Worst Away Days

Mansfield x2 was calamitous. I remember travelling up on the train from London for the second one and saying "well at least it can't be as bad as last year". How wrong can you be? The Bromley 5-0 and Alfreton 4-0 were bad also but I think the worst one was losing 2-1 at Hereford after being 1-0 up. ...

Re: John Woods

Absolutely devastated by the news today. His sister messaged me from South Africa earlier in the day, John had only returned from there earlier in the month. John was a great man and the best friend you could wish for. He was an integral part of the southern exiles crew, travelling up and down the c...

Re: Play Your Part Marmalade!

I dropped off my marmalade money with Rich Ingham on Saturday. Won't be at Chesterfield but at Yeovil and final home game v Woking so will pick it up then.

Re: Barrow v Notts county match thread

We were poor today but until we went down to 10 men County were worse. Looked a red for me. Quigs had no chance of getting the ball. At best it was stupid, at worst wreckless and losing him for 3 games is a massive blow. Platt and Hardcastle had good games. Jones was awful and Rooney had an unusual ...

Re: Play Your Part Marmalade!

I will give you £20 for 2 jars if I can have at least one of them from the Colin Cowperthwaite batch :D Not going to be at the Chesterfield game but will be at most of the home games between now and the end of the season if I can arrange to pick up. Otherwise I will get someone else to pick up from ...

Re: barrow v ebbsfleet match thread

If we're talking 7-0 wins, off the top of my head I seemed to recall we beat Great Harwood by that margin back in the day. I reckoned maybe 1975, but a look at the record books confirms it was in fact on October 25th 1977. My mind was telling me "Ian Gill" and sure enough he scored 2 of our goals. ...

Re: barrow v ebbsfleet match thread

Awesome display today. I have to admit I felt for the Ebbsfleet fans as we have been in that position all too often - I remember witnessing 7 goal defeats in consecutive seasons at Mansfield, a couple of thrashings at Luton and a spanking at Rushden among many other dark days. It is however sufferin...

Re: Solihull Saturday

It's been sunny all day in Birmingham. I am quite surprised it's off given the tv cameras were coming. Solihull didn't fancy it I reckon.

Re: Dover game (H)

Is this cancelled now for Atherton? Aye waiting for confirmation but looking that way. Hopefully they will get their comeuppance whenever that may be, no motivational speeches needed that day me thinks! Really hope Dover have booked advance tickets and non-cancellable hotels for 7th January. Karma ...

Re: PLAY YOUR PART CAMPAIGN

There is a breakdown Si, I hope someone will be forthcoming. Yes it is not sustainable long term that has been touched upon in the opening gambit, but ultimately our future lies in our hands, do we embrace it or miss what may be the the opportunity of a generation! https://www.bluebirdstrust.co.uk/...

Re: PLAY YOUR PART CAMPAIGN

Ok so a few important questions here before I part with cash as I did last time around. 1) Is the £850k loss what we are projecting for this season and if so on what basis (I.e. what crowds/revenue) is that budgeting for? 2) What is the breakdown of this loss? If we are living beyond our means and p...

Hardcastle MOM for me, ran himself into ground.
Think only reason he came off was amount of work he did in 70 minutes.
Hardcastle for me too but they were all superb. Day of dreams today. Still absolutely buzzing.

Re: Home v Sutton United

Ugly ugly win from a team that were running on almost empty from the start. Dont care one little bit though as for all our great football recently that is the sort of game we would have gone nothing from in previous seasons. Two weeks to get as many bodies fit as possible for what will be a real tes...
