Re: A day out in Barrow...

I want to visit Barrow again to see my mate. Hopefully, they'll be at home again and I can come and visit again.

Re: A day out in Barrow...

Glad you had a great day, we're not as bad as some folk like to make out :-) Especially when we win It was the first time I had an opportunity to visit. I last came to Barrow in August 2021 but I don't think they were at home at that time. The season had started - I know as much as that. I see Barr...

A day out in Barrow...

I finally did it... I approached this forum two years ago to research Holker Street for a book I am writing on football grounds. It's still ongoing. At the time I said I'd love to visit HS as part of groundhopping and on Saturday, I finally got the opportunity. I'd travelled up for my mate's birthda...

Re: Holker Street (History of...)

Hi guys, and girls. I'm back. I finished writing about Barrow many months ago and thought I had that section complete until I began writing about Bradford City. During my research on Valley Parade, I came across the below piece of information that had escaped my original research on Holker Street; ...

Re: Holker Street (History of...)

This is all fascinating stuff about Holkler Street. I'm sure some football fans consider grounds such as Barrow's as pokey little grounds and have no existence when you compare them to the likes of the multi-million pound builds in the Premier League. I love grounds like Barrow (Crewe and Grimsby a...

Re: Holker Street (History of...)

Work has to be done to meet EFL requirements by the end of next season - discussed on various threads including this one . Thank you. I thought that you get a longer time than that - usually, five years, though I assume that Barrow (chairman) entered the league knowing that improvements would be re...

Re: Liverpool v Barrow 1892

The link to the original post can be found here; https://playupliverpool.com/1892/09/09/barrow-cannot-handle-liverpool/ Lots of towns/cities had clubs that were formed and swiftly folded without putting a jot in the history books. Burton Swifts is a good example. They were in around the same time (1...

Re: Holker Street (History of...)

I do have an ethos of sharing information. It's ok asking for it, but I believe that I should share information that I find, be it vital or not. I was searching through online newspapers and came across several reports from Barrow's time at Strawberry Grounds. All the reports are from the Manchester...

Re: Holker Street (History of...)

Its all out there fella- most of its on Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holker_Street Also worth researching the dual use of the ground as a Speedway stadium in the early 70’s which had a significant impact on the stadium as a tidy 4 sided lower league ground that could hold 15000+, with a stand...

Holker Street (History of...)

Hi Bluebirds... I am new to this forum, although I do not support Barrow, I come in peace. I do, however, have friends in Barrow and was over there last August. I have joined this forum as I am writing about the history of football grounds/stadiums, and am concentrating my research on Barrow AFC for...
