We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Awesome stuff, with a bit of luck and some hard graft, we may be able to get a pint before the seasons out? If they need a hand decorating, plastering or general finishing I'm more than up for mucking in

After the bumper crowd next week I'm sure you will appreciate some extra help on the Sunday. The better half and myself are staying an extra night to take in the Rugby and so will be there to help on the Sunday. We may well be the first there, will 09:00 be too early? We'll start the litter pick and can crushing but will bugger off at about 12:30 to have a beer or two before the game. Let me know if there are any other tasks you need us to do...See you then.

Sometimes our eager beaver 'leckies are there at 8am but 9am is the usual time. Be nice to see you both.

Oh good. Wanted to make sure we are there long enough to be worthwhile. Be nice to see you too. I hope plenty of folk turn up to help after a big crowd.

Sefton, we sometimes get there for 8:30am but that’s just to sort various things before the majority turn up, that way we’re normally ready to go at 9:00am.

Elaine, you might think the sparks are there early but that’s only because one of them wants to spend more time talking....and the other one was late today.

I’ll put some pictures up shortly of a few jobs that were taken on today.

A few from earlier.

The first one is the Trust’s shop water supply which worked loose yesterday, this has now been made secure with a few staging poles.
The second is the continuing can recycling process. These lads not only separate the cans and cash them in for us but also take plastic containers home for recycling as well, a great effort and not the most glamorous of jobs. They also litter pick outside the ground.
Nice to see plastic & cardboard cups shoved behind metal bars today when there was a bin literally five feet away.

Ian Evatt asked for a TV to be moved in his office which was also started & completed today.

The door into the galley was give a coat of paint - something we never got around to doing during last summer.

The tin sheeting on one of the turnstiles was temporarily fixed today (I believe that was what was causing the safety issues late in in the game yesterday) We’ll fix that properly next weekend.

Looks good some excellent improvements being made, exciting stuff. When do we think the fan zone will be ready? Any games this season at all when it will be in use?

I believe it’s been knocked back two or three weeks, probably to do with a combination of weather and the extra work involved at the start of the build.

An early post but we’ll be having another ground visit this Sunday. A fair bit of minor wind damage to put right and a big job to sort before any more bad weather comes in and does any serious damage.
I won’t bother listing the jobs as there’s dozens but there’s pretty much a job for any skill (or non-skill) set. If you’ve not tried it before, why not give it a go? you’d be helping us spread the workload and saving the club a small fortune by helping in the general upkeep of the ground. There’s also a bit of rendering to do if anyone has that particular skill - MIKE 😁...well you did offer.
Refreshments & a bite to eat will all be put on during the morning.
Please PM or reply on here if interested so we know what sort of numbers to expect.

A bit of a long shot but we’ve always been helped by supporters generosity in the past so it’s worth asking before we have to buy. Does anyone have any step ladders going spare or that they no longer use that need a new home?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Doesn’t matter Elaine, if someone has a spare set then we’d gladly accept them.

Still open for offers of help for Sunday, we have good numbers but there’s plenty of outdoor jobs to do as the forecast is pretty decent. It'd be nice to get the old ground looking as decent as possible for the run-in.
