National Supporters Club Player of the Year 2019/20

Post by chris_roddie »

Normally, the NSC as with other sections such as the Bluebirds Trust would announce their player of the season at the end of season awards, but with the current situation, that is clearly not going to happen.

We extended the voting to NSC members once we knew the season had been brought to a premature close, and after a very close vote, the NSC Player of the Season (by one point) is John Rooney.

This has been a great season and let's hope the football authorities see sense and promote BAFC.

I will arrange for the trophy to get to the club to pass on to John and let's hope the NSC curse doesn't strike (whoever wins the PoY has left most times out of the last 10 seasons).

Is that 2 awards for Rooney and 1 for Quigley?

There are about 7 players who must have been in with a shout and Platt was certainly one of them but, for me, Rooney topped all of them.

Why hasn't the results of the poll been published?

Word coming out of Blackburn is that they have a couple of first-year academy lads in his position pushing for places and that Platt could well be seen as surplus to requirements at Ewood Park.

It's not a conspiracy. I'll find out.

EDIT, Rich has beat me to it, on the other thread.

The NSC is a matter for them of course...

Because the latest monthly newsletter hasn't been produced yet?

Got wind on this myself. Mentioned it a few months back. Fingers crossed we keep the lad?

You'd have thought if Blackburn had intention to keep him they'd have at least got him a one year extension by now. Hopefully we can snap him up.

Apologies. Not sure what "poll" is being asked about. I think in the past (in the heady days when we had presentation evenings), we just announced who the winner was.

For completeness, from the NSC votes, the result was;

1st John Rooney (48 points)
2nd Scott Quigley (47 points)
3rd Joel Dixon (15 points)
4th Matt Platt (12 points)
5th Brad Barry (7 points)
6th= Dior Angus (3 points)
6th= Jason Taylor (3 points)
8th Josh Kay (1 point)
