Joe Johnson as ref was an omen to begin with and that disallowed goal said it all about today, we go against Torquay next week.

Our management of set pieces that we won in good positions was dreadful plus a number of deliveries were over hit.

Incredibly frustrating to be out at the first hurdle again. Three years since we've been in the hat for the first round.

Thanks... Slightly disappointed with that especially after the crowd last Tuesday.

Very frustrating afternoon, we’ll play worse than that and win games but we really could have done with a win today for the prize money
Solihull came with a game plan of sticking everyone behind the ball and attacking from set pieces (very big side) and they’ve sucker punched us and done exactly that. If Hardcastle scores in the first half we probably go on and win but when he didn’t you just started to think it wasn’t going to be our day
Defending/goalkeeping for their goal looked to be a shambles from the other end of the pitch. Our free kicks were pretty much summed up by the one in injury time that we just gave back to them. Plenty of half chances, balls across the box etc etc that no-one could get on the end of, still not convinced personally that Angus is the answer if we genuinely harbour top 7 ambitions

Could/should have been out of sight by HT, but that result was always on the cards after the week we've had.. too may wrong decisions 2nd half, we played into their hands by rushing and trying long balls. As good as Rooney has been, he went missing 2nd half when we were crying out for someone to get on the ball and keep us playing.
Solihull are horrible, struggled to get a photo of the excuse of a ref without a yellow shirt surrounding him.. ah well, onwards and upwards

Rooney struggled today. I thought Kay was another example as to someone who wasn't at the races compared to his usual performances. Too many times he tried the audacious effort from outside the area. He has an eye for a good goal as we know, but it wasn't to be for him today. If Hardcastle put away his effort after a good run, the game would have been completely different, but unfortunately the luck wasn't with us today and our cup exploits are over at the first hurdle again. No distractions (until the FA Trophy), so our focus is primarily on the league. Onto Torquay who will be no pushovers.

We played well in defeat and will play worse this season and win games. Credit to Solihull, that was probably the best defensive display from a visiting team this season. Full back had Kay in his pocket especially first half. Solihulls keeper pulled off some great saves and defensively they battled and scrambled for 90 minutes. Fell to the sucker punch from a set piece but not to downhearted and the performance. and effort was there from us once again. We dust ourselves down and go again next week at Torquay

Sounds like we’ve been beaten by the standard National league team formula today. We know the biggest threat we face every game.

So why are we not prepared for that threat?

Deflated. The Dover debacle destroyed all momentum on and off the pitch and has ultimately now cost the club a fortune.

Anyway onto Torquay.

Decent enough first half and we could’ve/should’ve gone in at least one up and confidence high - fair play to their keeper though as he had a decent game.
Second half was a bit of a mess really, poor passing, over hit crosses and to top it off when time was running out, a ridiculous free kick that was basically rolled back to Solihull.
Basically like watching what we were dishing out under Cox.

The club could’ve really done with banking that cash so very disappointing.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Even though we weren’t quite at the races I thought we did more than enough to win the game. The post and three decent stops by their keeper Boot frustratingly denied us. Sometimes it’s just not meant to be!😔

Undone again with bog standard set piece as we haven't much height I think against teams like this we should put Quigley at the front of the attacker's they wouldn't have scored if he
