Blew hot and cold in that game. Good news is there isn't anyone outside the starting XI that is being excluded wrongly.

I must admit my attention for the game waned a little towards the end. More enjoyable speaking to the Atherton staff and fans who were a really decent bunch.

In what is a hectic period with inevitable tired legs, delaying a league game to play the reserves again instead is not such a bad thing.

Great interview from the boss, i'm glad he's looking at getting rid/bringing in new faces. It also comes across that he will be here for at least the rest of the season, he's so proud and well supported by the club that it would have to be a massive club to prise him away
Full interview will be aired on the Friday sport Show from 6pm - 7pm
Pity we have to wait until Friday. I stayed tuned hoping to hear it but when it got to 10 o clock news I switched it off. Of the 'senior' players who are not first team regulars, I would have expected Brown, Harrison and Elsdon to show their ability. Brown has performed ok when stepping in to the first team in the past, Harrison hasn't made any impact all season, but what about Elsdon? How did he perform last night?

EDIT - forgot to ask about Hindle. NWEM made him star man.

Hope Dover can get a refund for all those super-super-super-advance rail tickets they'll probably have bought by now. :)

Play the replay on Jan 7th and tell Dover to be ready for a Jan 11th game if we lose,Dover are out of the Trophy, but could be short notice to book train tickets.
Dover have re-arranged their outstanding game with Hartlepool for 11th Jan.

Probably puts the lid on any FA Trophy ambition that we might have had. Means that if we were to beat Atherton in the replay on the 7th we'd be playing FC Utd on the 11th. There's little doubt that IE would simply put the same 11 out again if he could and will not risk a potential starting 11 for the Bromley game a week later. At least he's making the squad earn their money.

I dunno, our second string XI ought to be able to beat two Northern Premier League teams at home

Match report from the Atherton viewpoint. Not often you see "stanza" and "Bah humbug" used in such a report!

A fair reflection on the night that report. I still find it hard to come to terms with us being described as a "golliath" though.

I guess we are top of the perch and there to be shot at, it just feels surreal when others describe us as such.

As current leaders of the National League, we are the highest ranked club in the FA Trophy. When was the last time we could say that - in 1990 when there was only us and Leek left in the competition?
