Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
Guys and girls, keep it on topic and relevant please.
Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
Jim - What personal abuse are you referring to?? I haven't seen any, it seems no criticism at all can be offered on here without it being labelled "personal abuse".
Ste - It is relevant, if a director is going to come on here and speak to us like JM does then people are obviously going to have something to say about it.

Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
Surely a 'fans liason rep' should have the skills to talk to the fans in a decent manner ?
Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
Mmmm!!! Tricky one, on one hand John, on behalf of, and in his role on the BOD is rightly putting things right and keeping fans abreast accurately, and on the other comes across as a tad petulant.
In his defense, but I'm sure he can defend himself, maybe just maybe he isn't aware of the unwritten rule you have on forums/texts etc that bold or caps comes across as shouty/means shouting. Without the bold its reads a lot more reasonably to me.
Storm in a tea cup for me.

Education should be public not private, it should be open, accountable and answerable to all the community, pupils and parents.

Fair enough the point trying to be made, but it wouldnt have been a problem if the club didnt have all its head up its arse

love yourself
reminds me of someone who constantly shows off
Ok, perhaps "abuse" wasn't the best word, let's say that some comments were at least mildly insulting. Apart from saying that John didn't need to 'shout', IMO there was no need for anything else.

Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
So when are the teacups arriving? I have been waiting for a set since August. Do the BoD want us to die of thirst before Tiffin? I will be going to the Development Branch in Scott Street on Saturday morning as usual and I expect to see that carpet shop gone and teacups next to the shirts in the window. How are we supposed to progress as a club if (Cont. Pg. 94)phil wrote:Mmmm!!! We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...
Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
I agree with this...:
...and so, JM, if you're reading this thread ( we all know you are so let's not pretend!) and with apologies for shouting,
For Cowps's sake, when are the BoD going to call an AGM?
...and this...:jim wrote:I thought John McKay's statement was an important one to put the facts straight.
...and most of all this:phil wrote:Storm in a tea cup for me.
I think JM's statement was informative and a helpful response to the original erroneous post about the new commercial manager. It's just a shame that we only get told this sort of thing reactively and in very occasional instances. Let's hope it starts to happen more often...Steeley wrote:Fair enough the point trying to be made, but it wouldnt have been a problem if the club didnt have all its head up its arse

Re: Correction to New Commercial Manager post
From John Mackay's column in the Southport programme.
As informed at the fans night recently, the club was hoping to employ someone on a commission-only basis. This has now taken place and his name is Tony Eva. His task it is to try to get more firms on board with advertising and sponsorship deals. It will not be an easy task as many firms are finding it difficult in these tough economic times but he has made several deals, with others, hopefully, in the pipeline. There are also various ways you, as individuals, can help the club through these times. Have you tried to encourage a friend or neighbour to either become a member or, indeed, drag them along to a game? If every member or fan could achieve either one of these, just once in a season, then you are talking of more than GBP10k extra income over a season. As an individual, have you considered sponsoring one of the players’ kits that are still available. As we are part way through the season, the price has now been lowered to GBP40 for you to have your name against a player’s kit for the remainder of the season. For GBP20, you can sponsor a page in the programme. I appreciate that money is tight with most families and to be able to attend the games may be as much as many can afford, but if you can help by taking up these offers, every little helps the club. Having read many away programmes and looked at what other clubs are charging for the same, we are one of, if not, the cheapest in this League. One club charges GBP10 per month for a name on the pitch squares, while another GBP40 for the season, while we charge only GBP10 for the whole season. Other opportunities for individuals include corporate hospitality at GBP35 (plus VAT) per head, the match ball (GBP120 plus VAT) or the man of the match (GBP150 plus VAT). To obtain more details, or to make a booking, please contact the office on 01229 823061 or e-mail office@barrowafc.com alternatively you can do the same by phoning 01946 841429 or e-mailing bafcdirect@yahoo.co.uk

Hmm, so why did Mackay and his sock puppet go all guns blazing for John when 'observer 1979' had spilled the beans in a much more comprehensive way?PRR wrote:John Very Little wrote:This hasn't been mentioned officially yet but it should been, in that the new Commercial Manager has started.observer 1979 wrote:The new commercial manager is I believe, Mr Tony Eva.Happy wrote:the original post is total tosh as usual!!Happy wrote:Well we will just wait for him to make an apology for the untruth's and total tosh but I can imagine that this will be a long time coming!!Ralph wrote:From John Mackay's column in the Southport programme.
