New Messiah

Post by The Tomahawk Kid » Wed Nov 13, 2013 3:45 pm

Don't hold your breath...

Anybody with any sense will NOT want to manage this club with the present 'Shower' at its helm. Dave Bayliss is very well connected in the lower echelons of the footballing world and 'Word' of our current plight will have now reached the ears of all suitable candidates.

The 'Word' being:
The Manager doesn't get paid (well...apparently...he didn't for 2 months)
(sometimes) Players don't get paid
Floodlights don't work (properly)
Playing Pitch is deplorable
No Business Marketing Strategy
etc, etc, etc,

It's wasn't about Bayliss - it's about the BOD.
UNITIL the present regime have gone...this ship will continue to flounder until eventually...it will...sink!

Our current plight could be summed up in just two words:

No Future
OR
No Ambition...
(According to the philosophy of Tony Keen)

I started losing faith (many others, too) when he decreed that we'd be better off in a league below.
WE wanted a 'Battle Cry' Tony - and YOU waved the white flag of surrender!

Some people on here bemoan the lack of support at our home games - and question how other clubs survive - on even lower gates. I remember us playing in the NPL - we attracted far lower attendances than we are getting right now. But we SURVIVED. As do other clubs. Because the guys who hold the purse strings knew/know what they are doing...get the drift?

Anyone with the slightest notion of good business practice will know that Barrow AFC is in a mess - Big Time! Who's to blame? Dave Bayliss?...

Not getting paid - this was known however Bayliss repeatedly confirmed that it was sorted when pushed by various media sources and he wasn't exactly famous for biting his tongue!

Floodlights themselves work perfectly well, the bulbs that are not switched on are not required to be switched on as the club meet the FA guidelines and would just be wasting money. The pylons are an issue but as Peter announced recently there is a big fundraising push to get these sorted.

The pitch is improving under Gareth and it will continue to get better every year; yes it's still not brilliant and perhaps he should have been allowed to work the pitch much earlier but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

The business marketing strategy is currently under review with the commercial management group who have been putting in many hours behind the scenes to improve the off the field side with many more ideas and initiatives to be announced.

At no point did TK say we'd be better of in the league below, the mail completely misquoted and turned around a comment about the conference being a graveyard for clubs as has been discussed many times in the past on this forum and at various AGMs and meet the board nights.

Yes things can be better, they can also be worse but now a new era on the pitch is starting it is the best opportunity to all pull together and push for our shared aim that is Barrow AFC. There is no point in trying to improve the club when there are many people (not a dig directly at you) pulling in the opposite direction with an axe to grind undoing much of the hard hours spent by volunteers.

Great solution. Maybe all 600+ fans that are staying away can become directors too?!

Well Said corner 91,

Its true this axe grinding must stop as I have said already we need to be 100% behind the club and vise versa. So lets change the record and go streaming on line. Keep up the good work you Worker Bees your a credit to our club, like all improvements it takes time both on and off the pitch!!!

Grinding a tomahawk in this case, another silly attempt to stir the pot.
Have you ever thought what a wonderful world it would be without enthusiastic people.

Of course it is - just as it's still allowed for me to comment!

I haven't always agreed with some of the board's decisions, but I don't want to do the job myself either.

I am glad that the BOD finally got rid of Bayliss (by mutual agreement ;) ) but I don't think this is the time to be further undermining the club that you profess to support.

Oh dear, how many times will that ridiculous statement get rolled out? As Corner 91 say's, it's been explained countless times all over the place none more so than on this very forum!

You might not like to read, or even acknowledge the positives (as pointed out by Corner 91) but there do happen to be many atm but some people just don't want to see past the negatives though, & I guess just by reading the content of that dismal post, you're one of them.

There's plenty wrong with this club - no doubt about it but try & balance things out a little........might be an idea to leave the lies out as well!

BTW, good post Corner 91
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I don't have the time or the money to get involved at the board level of a football club. I say that openly. I don't pretend to be something that I'm not.

At the same time I believe that as a member of the club I am entitled to an opinion on how the club is being ran. Do you not believe that members are entitled to an opinion? Or are they only entitled to an opinion as long as it doesn't 'rock the boat'?

The evidence is there. Whether people choose to see it is another matter.

Regarding the comment about the pitch, Gareth and Craig his assistant, have been working for most part of the day on it and particularly this afternoon in the pouring rain. They are working hard to get it as good as it can be in the short time they have been responsible for it and come next close season I am sure a major overhaul will be on the cards. He is full of ideas and plans for improving it and hopefully the players will benefit from a decent pitch to play on.

You may speak your mind T T K,but you obviously have a large axe to grind with certain people. This is obvious with such a critical and damning of everything Barrow AFC has,yes there are problems which we know, but these problems are present at many many clubs at this level.I am proud of what we have at Barrow, you obviously are not.The board have made mistakes which they would hold there hands up and accept,Bayliss built that team and was giving a generous length of tme to correct his failing,he didnt and was released. So back the club, support the new manager,if you cant then we dont want you.

If you attended the AGM ,as you are a member, you could have put your points to the BOD but like few more members didn't bother......support your club if it does mean anything to you
