I can confirm that Dane Ghyll did get tickets and they were given to class teachers to hand out (not by me).

Junior is 7-11 Tommy. ;)

Some will have forgotten to give out tickets, you'll never get a full house with that. Good idea to give out at ground also.

You're doing a great job and it's a great idea to hand out all these tickets...it's just a pity the schools haven't bothered to see they get handed out to all children. Some kids who have no intention of going to the game took handfuls home, others didn't get one. I'll be having a word at my lads school when I'm next there.

Such a shame that (some of) the schools themselves seem to have let the kids down with this offer. Hopefully it'll be tried again & the schools will get their acts together.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

You really need an individual contact at each one who cares about it. Some schools (there are quite few primary teachers who go to Barrow) will make a big effort, other schools won't. You just have to keep at it. When I was working in Barrow , I would make sure they went out but then also make sure those who I knew would and could got tickets and any friends and family were encouraged. But that's partly because I have an interest.

The club have had a decent go at this. Well done Community folks and Pete

So am I to assume that those kids in the school who have already had their eleventh birthday weren't allocated tickets, or am I reading this too literally? If that's not the case and indeed every child in the school was made provision for in the calculation of the number of tickets given out, then what would seem to be a scheme that's pretty much unfutzable has indeed been futzed up... not by the club, but by the schools.

The scheme was for "primary" schools, reception to year 6 is primary (ages 4-11). I think provision was made for every primary school child to get a ticket. I know people in reception who got tickets and my lad in year 6 got one (he's 11 in 2 weeks). However, my year 3 lad never got one. Seems to be the schools who haven't ensured they were all given out.

Well done Pete, managed to make a crisp part with 12 notes! St columba reception class all got their tickets.

None at Roose either, or at least my Niece never got one. Not the club's fault but it's a shame as she'd have probably gone had she been made to feel special by getting a free ticket.

Schools are terrible at this sort of thing. Of course some are great but for most they see it as a pain, sorting and counting tickets. When I've done similar promotions I would literally hand them to the schools in batches of 30 so the receptionist can just slot into the registers. Labour intensive but needs doing.

Good stuff.

Kieran, Roose were another one I hand delivered.

The majority of schools got them banded in 30s, only the last one or two didn't as I misjudged and had to make another 800 tickets at short notice.

No worries Pete, wasn't really doubting that they got some just the school must not have handed them out properly.

I remember when I was in junior school and the rugby got some of their players to come in and hand tickets to us personally when we were in our classrooms. A possible idea for next time maybe?
