Ermm, correct, it was Paul Casson who asked us to get quotes for it!

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Daren't ask you Mr WG - you'd fall into it, break a leg, grab hold of someone (probably Elaine) & while climbing back out pull yourself up whilst grabbing hold of the scaffolding & pulling half the Cross Bar down with it! and all because we never bothered to:Wintergreen wrote:... oh, and er, if you want anybody to dig a hole for the foundations...

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I could have saved a life today
but chose to look the other way.
It wasn’t that I didn’t care.
I had the time, and I was there
but I didn’t want to seem a fool
and argue over safety rules.
I knew he’d done the job before.
if I called it wrong, he might get sore.
The chances didn’t seem that bad.
(I’ve done the same. He knew I had.)
So I shook my head and walked on by.
He knew the risks as well as I.
He took the chance, I closed my eye
and with that act I let him die.
I could have saved a life that day
but chose to look the other way.
Now every time I see his wife
I know I should have saved his life.
I see his kids and feel so sad.
They cry at night. They’ve lost their Dad.
That guilt is something I must bear
but isn’t something you need share.
If you see a risk that others take,
that puts their health or life at stake ..
... The question asked, or things you say
could help them live another day.
If YOU see a risk and walk away,
then hope YOU never have to say

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I expected better material off you WG, not some recycled company splurgh
See what you've set off Elaine?
Seriously, there aren't any more risks taken by us at the ground than you would take at work, crossing the road or doing some DIY at home - let's not blow this out of proportion.

Dropping the bench saw off in the morning
So next time you go in bring a plug as for reasons
I don't know it's been chopped off
Only been used twice and is a real thing
Sure it'll get more use now tho

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
To be honest Ian those two lumps of concrete were a hazard and I was told they were put there because the people that sit there rest their feet on them as the area is always covered in water.
I am now in London and had to go to a hospital down here as the injury to my shin had to be reassesed as the wrong dressing was put on at FGH and prescribed strong antibiotics. I have been told it could take a long time to heal and there's a risk it could develop into an ukcer!!!!
Who put them there is another matter.

Qiute right O Spirit, let's keep things in proportion - but you did bring it up again in your 'Wintergreen falling in the hole' post above.spirit of 1990 wrote:I expected better material off you WG, not some recycled company splurgh

The safety poem is recognised as a classic the world over for good reason; why anyone would be dismissive of it I dont know.
Having a bench saw with the plug cut off could indicate that someone has previously condemned it, I would get it tested before use.
Let's be careful out there...

Correct, it's a forum but your last three (perhaps four) posts have had a go at me indirectly, if you've got a gripe with me pop down the GMA next visit & tell me what your problem is.
If you think it's ok to do this behind the name "strawberry" fine, I'm sure you know who I am, so in the interests of fairness would you like to introduce yourself? If not, I'm pretty sure I know who you are so would you like me to do it for you seeing as you seem so shy, or would this be a bit too embarrassing for relatives?
Oh, and by the way, the concrete blocks had nothing to do with us as was explained by Elaine but don't let facts get in the way of your odd little view of what we do at the ground.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Hard to believe someone's having a go at the GMA folk, are they for real?
The work this group do is utterly fantastic, a lot of people could learn a thing or two from them!
