Not the greatest team performance but three points is what matters. Impressed with the attendance as I expected a couple of hundred less.

Did just about enough for the win, IMO. Not sure if it was a penalty? Maybe those down at the Crossbar End can clarify?

Never a penalty, the first one where Jason went down was more of a good shout for a penalty, only one team in it second half and we were much the stronger, onwards and upwards, definitely deserved all three points

Agree with crossbar the first shout was more of a penalty than the second! Don't know why the Cook goal was disallowed as there appeared to be two defenders goal side of Cook. Leamington will cause quite a few upsets this year, they are a much improved side compared on last seasons viewings. Great attendance again and that winning run continues :D

We were right in line when we got the penalty & it looked a fair shout from where we were.

I think we're going to have to accept that teams will come here & make it hard for us to get the three points, most of last season they'll have come here set up to win. We've had a couple of decent scorelines recently at home but teams are going to sit up & notice that & change their formation to suit.

My only concern this season is our midfield as it looks very lightweight & missing something, we have forwards who can obviously score, our defence looks as good as most in this league, our keeper is well worthy of his place but something isn't strong enough with what we have available in the middle.

Hard fought out win with Leamington looking like they'll upset a few this season. Good set of supporters who were very decent to talk to, especially the four or five in the reception car park.

Attendance is looking good with a decent looking 1500+ average...everything seems to be going well at the moment.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Do you think that when McWilliams comes in that son of Cowps could do a job in midfield?

We're going to have a good few more games like that if we're going to be successful this season.

Very pleasing I thought against what in my opinion is the best side we've played so far. They were very well organised and caused us a few problems first half, second half they seemed to have settled for a point which was a bit strange as they were matching us first half. Second half was all about us trying to break them down and get a winner which we did with what I thought was a soft penalty. But I felt we just about deserved the win and it was very satisfying to get it as it wasn't easy but we stuck at it. Excellent first goal by Pilkington too which shouldn't go without mention.

Another pleasing thing was the number of kids in attendance. I was manning a trust membership table in the upstairs foyer of the Crossbar and at full time it was buzzing with kids wanting to know when the players would be up so they could get pictures and autographs. The players were good with them when they came up too, excellent stuff.

What a great goal by Pilkington. Even though he's not banging in the goals, Walkers contribution is selfless and his workrate phenomenal.

Two things I forgot to mention Kieran.

Pilkingtons goal was fabulous, the finish & his build up.....really was class.

I also mentioned to my mates about how many kids were in the ground today, that's a good sign for the future, not seen as many in the ground in a long, long time.

Another thing I noticed (not ideal) but how many people were in there today wearing LFC, MUFC, Arsenal tops? does this hint at premier league team supporters trying out HS instead of sitting at home/in a pub watching them teams?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I definitely think so Jim, I said exactly the same today. The way Cowps is progressing he could become a real asset in our midfield (which appears to be the one area of concern) without looking elsewhere we could have the player we need in there right under our nose.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

I liked Chris the tree. No outrage a la Dodd whenever a ref decision went against us or "What a good player would have done there was..." a la Goodwin. Now just get the commentator to stop using the words "dink", "dinked" or "dinking" and all will be well in RC Barrow coverage land.

Good result and didn't think Leamington troubled us too much. Pilkington took his goal very well.
Didn't think cook was offside hopefully the highlights will show this, and cooky was also unlucky not to score at the end it was like Gazzas miss in 96.
Hopefully McWilliams will be in on the left soon as I thought cowps was disappointing.
Can't wait for next week

A good win against a well drilled and organised side, something we'll have to get used to from teh better sides arriving at HS. One great 1-1 save from McMillan at a crucial time hasn't been mentioned much.

Grand amd Livesy were superb again today, their understanding is growing every week and look as good a pairing as I've seen at this level. Would love to see us geta midfield general of a similar quality to boss it in there. ARH and SS have done well in the middle at times, but just seems to cry out for a bit of experience to run the show in there for me.

Think we're all getting a little hyper critical about things - as is always the way :-) - we'd have locked someone up in the nut hut if they'd had predicted our current position this time last year!!

Let's just enjoy the ride :-)
