I must admit I'm a little perplexed by these cup performances - even though I probably shouldn't be. In years gone by we've put out really naff squads for these games, - players who we've pulled in from loans, members of the management team, goalkeepers playing in the outfield, youth team players - anybody we could find who didn't have to play the following league game. In these attempts we've failed gloriously and frankly have demonstrated our contempt for tin pot cup competitions.

This season we have a squad of 20+ and can quite easily accommodate a mixture of first team and fringe players. On both occasions we've put this squad out (Runcorn & Chorley) we have managed to demonstrate that we have now perfected the art of turning up and losing when we don't feel the urge to win - but now we do it with a far superior squad.

It may indicate that the peripheral squad is far inferior in quality to the starting 11, but I cannot believe that this is entirely the case. If this is some well managed plan hatched by Edmo to participate but not progress in these competitions then hats off to him. We are becoming the masters of the swift exit.

However I'm seriously asking myself whether it would be worth me (or in fact any of you) turning up at the forthcoming FA Trophy game, if this approach is adopted once again.

Well done to the 400+ plus who turned up.

Nothing competition yes. Majority of fans may be glad to be out of it yes. Edmo may be glad as well yes. However the players can't think like that as most of them haven't played for weeks and were there tonight to try and get in the starting 11 for the league game. They obviously don't want to be in the team that much, an unchanged starting 11 from the hednesford game for this Saturday I reckon. Seriously didn't recognise who pilkington was until someone told me tonight Gorman MOTM imo, good player. Frustrating at times but he's a good talent and is good on the ball as well. Imo we should get him on a contract.
Credit to the other 439 fans there tonight, seemed to be a few Chorley fans at the end making a slight bit of noise. Credit to them also. Good luck to them and of course Holker OB for the rest of the competition

I don't understand the comparison with the Runcorn game. Tonight's is an unimportant game in a nothing competition that I would rather we were out of. The Runcorn game is one where we picked squad players but I cannot believe we would not have wanted to have progress due to the potential financial rewards nevermind anything else.

Tonight I couldn't care less about. The FA Cup we took risks with selection/under-estimated opponent/just played poorly* and didn't get away with it

]Was a good run out for Willis cowps etc, thought Wilson looked lively and gives is a different option up front plays right on shoulder of last defender and with a bit better service off the likes off ARH and shez rather than cowps and crowther will score plenty more goals more us.
Crowther looked OK though few good tackles.

Oh aye, best part of night was seeing the new temporary fancy toilets behind the wilkie stand

Two mistakes gifted them goals, effort was there but once again highlights how thin we are in cent mid. Thought Cowps and Crowther looked out fo their depth in there tonight, both creatively and spoiling.

Good minutes under the belt for Wilson and Pilks. Cribley did ok tonight as well, but could be so much better if he was more direct at times. Gorman was much more effective in his natural wide role.

Chorley were a tidy side, and not sure how many of their regulars were playing - think we'd have beaten them comfortably at full strength.

No idea where they get these refs from, but this one was hopeless - and the liner 1st half on pop side was a t*t, performing a hand gesture at the crowd in the was a bit naughty as well.
