Could not disagree more!! Barrow totally bossed the game from start to finish dint think that was a stumbling performance at all.
I am amazed anyone can find negativity about today's performance.
They went off at half time to absolute silence. No applause, no encouragement, no booing...people just can't be bothered getting any sort of emotion going on performances like that first half. It was tedious.
Cooky is a shoe-in for player of the season because no other bugger puts in more than 5 minutes of graft per game.
McMillan is surely on borrowed time now. We desperately, DESPERATELY need a keeper.
Grand is, as was pointed out earlier, just clogging it skywards.
Lacey is a worry whenever he is within 4 ft of the ball (not often).
I forgot Livesy was on the pitch.
Having said that...I like Cowps as a covering defensive mid. He looks comfortable there. We have a good left back at last. Reid and Pilks will make a vast change to the team when they come back and if Wilson ever returns it will allow Walker a rest because he is just not there right now...not at all.

I like positivity generally, but I'm also used to the standard of football at Barrow at least for the last 12 years or so, so there's nowt illusory about my view of it thanks ;)

The best two sides in that time?

The 2008 team ,who were actually just as direct, but Macca and Jonah cut out any mistakes, Boydy could pass and Matt Henney could cross a ball.

Adam Boyes first season with Mackreth on the wing when we were tigerish in centre midfield, well organised and had at least one good winger and good strikers.

Hell, if it wasn't for the young lad on loan a fit Maxfield would walk into the side as would Housham pre Man vs Food and a host of central midfielders we've had.

None of the teams had the investment of this one when we awere at CN level. It's not unreasonable to expect better and most of the people who are unconvinced aren't just moaning [SwearFilter] or whatever but were actually the folk who were there 18 months ago when it was really tits up. Just saying ;)

Well it was an improved performance on Tuesday but still not great.
Jason is really out of sorts at the moment, he needs a rest.
Without Cooky I really don't know what we would do.....
We can't keep giving teams a 1 goal head start, playing a decent team it will bite us on the ars*
Are we due any players back from injury soon?

I want to say something in defence of Grandy. I get as infuriated as the next man with the whole high-ball-up-the-middle stuff, but if you watch him bringing the ball out of defence, looking for options, he quite often "goes long" because there is sod all else on for him. If there is someone available in space he does look to pass it, but if there is no movement off the ball, and nobody in space, what would you do? ...give it short to someone under pressure and and lose possession in a dangerous place? Hoof it into the stand? Turn around and give it to the goalie for him to hoof it upfield? Quite often the long speculative ball in the direction of Cooky or Jason is the best option he has, and the frustration is often visible in his face. All I'm saying is it isn't always Grandy's fault - as a team we are often too static, and as has been said on this forum many times, teams come up here to stifle and close spaces.

No it's not champagne football, it's workman like and hard graft. The players we have missing are our artisans and it looks like we just have to make do until they are mended. Saying that we are still creating plenty of openings just not carving out enough clear cut chances. Again the goal we conceded was against the run of play, I thought it was a fairly open game but one we were in control of for the most part. Nick Wilmer-Anderton showing us what a modern day wing back is all about Preston have a real gem and it would be fantastic if we could extent his loan until the season close. All three of our goals were well executed, Cook was again immense all afternoon. Also though Paddy worked hard players giving him little options at times other than hold on and get mugged or lump it. overall happy with what we justly earned.

Would benching Walker & starting Ellinson help re-fire JW then bring him on after 60 mins if needed.

Hope we bring in 1 or 2 quality players on half season contracts with a few to a contract if they earn it, then as our wounded slowly return we should have the fire power to go on a good solid run.

Tammy won again today 11 wins in 11 games :o

It wasn't good but it was a win. Let's face it, it is what we've done all season, we haven't won by outplaying the opposition, we've won through mostly hard graft and a forward called Andy Cook. he has been great IMO this season. If you asked all the players if they were honest are they playing well there is only cookie that can honestly say yes.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Jason is here on past glory alone, McMillan is not a keeper to take us into the conference and livesey is here due to being a friend of the boss.

I think that about sums it up regarding Grandy, as I said earlier, I like him but he seems to have changed his style of play since early season & Moonwatcher's take on it could be right. If it is right, that comes mainly down to a poor midfield leaving him no option but to lump it anywhere other than the ground.

Not sure about that Lisa. He tries but he simply cannot handle these balls dropping down on him for seventy to eighty minutes every game, that didn't happen last time he was here. Add to that he looks a little jaded BUT, we have no one else to replace him....it can't do his confidence any good at all playing week-in-week out when you know you aren't playing too well. We know we'd be up shit creek without Cookies goals but Jase has scored a fair few himself this season to help put us in the position we're in at the moment.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Agree he has chipped in with goals but regarding how we are playing, surely it is up to Jason to adapt his game to suit?

I'm not sure that's strictly true. The wedge he picks up for being here is probably a bigger pull.

The fact we have only played well on a couple of occasions this season, had that poor spell over Xmas and are still 2nd makes it more frustrating. A few more even half decent performances and we would be top of this league with breathing space. A couple of quality new faces in midfield and up front and I still think we can put an extended run together and catch Fylde who have yet to have a dodgy spell, but we need to be ready to pounce when they do.

We needed a CM at the start of the season who wants the ball, is happy to receive it under pressure and can pick a pass ( like Darren Sherridan) ad we still need one now!.

The lads at the back wuld then have an out option, and JW and AC would have something other than long punts to feed off. It was obvious at the back end last year and still cant believe we haven't found one.

ARH, Ledhsam (on what I've seen so far) all like to get fwd rather than drop and play. The 3rd goal today came from Cowps doing just that, but don't think he has the range to play that roll.

I'm struggling to see how PL is getting a game week in week out. At least he used to put a tackle in and be a bit reckless at times, even that has gone from his game. Apart from 30 min v Harrogate and odd bits here and there, he looks off the pace by some measure.

Still, we are 2nd and winning games through sheer will and determination, but you can't knock the character and spirit to keep pulling back from a deficit. Will be enough to keep us in touch, who knows, but hopefully with the return of some of the walking wounded we could still be around when Fylde slip up ;-)
