15 minutes may be the length of the train journey though the railway timetable suggests it is a 50 minute journey by Rail Replacement Bus. If it is a double-decker, don't sit upstairs if you've been on the pop.

Chorley to Buckshaw Village then on to Leyland and then Preston. In light traffic this could be done in 35-40 minutes, at rush hour could be well over an hour.Steeley wrote:Crikey! I've seen allsorts of buses/coaches/museum pieces used on these RRB's lately (they have been operating during evenings and weekends around Chorley for a while now) so depending on how many coach trips the coach firms have booked for Easter Monday they (the RRB services) could be run by some proper rattlers.
Taxis between Preston and Chorley and vice versa with a few of you wouldn't work out that expensive and would be far quicker.

The local rivalry is surely the geographical side and Chorley fans are bigging this up! Problems will come no doubt from inept and poor stewardship at Chorley, they couldn't handle fc or Chester so for us to come is what they will consider local, history or not. I promise the stewards will be an arse.
Oh and be careful as the CDS may get you!!! (Chorley death squad)
You can find many of them outside bargain booze at 8am
I can't wait! :UB:
Don't know of any Chorley fans who are 'bigging this up' - yes, we're probably expecting one of - if not the - biggest crowds of the season as Barrow will no doubt be close to sealing the championship by then, and Chorley will hopefully be close to confirming a play off spot. But don't know of any fans who are planning any trouble at the game - the danger of writing this is that Barrow fans could start expecting problems. There may be people who turn up from both sides who like the 'big games,' but these are often very quickly spotted and any issues quickly diffused.
Same for your reporting of inept and poor stewardship at Chorley. As a steward at the club, this comment is unfair and unfounded. We very rarely have any problems at Victory Park and these are more often than not dealt with swiftly and effectively. You write of issues with Chester - this was five seasons ago, so not fair to judge the current set up at the club on one match. The second visit by Chester passed off without incident. The problems with FCUM were started by their fans - by the admission of their directors and involved a small pocket of supporters. You promise that we 'will be an arse'. I promise you that the Chorley stewards will be anything but that - just ask fans of other clubs who are welcomed to VP as much as our own fans are.
Oh and the 'Chorley Death Squad' was a tongue in cheek group which died a death 4-5 seasons ago - they were hardly a 'Chorley Massive' or anything similar.
I may be wrong but I suspect this post was written to stir it before the game - just hope my response has given some balance to the accusations made.
Any questions before the game, just let me know and I'll try to help

Yes Metz...recommend a good alehouse near the ground.Bottoms Up
Re: Kick off time for Chorley
Chorley 6, Tamworth 0. WTF happened there? A (very) off day for Tamworth? Chorley coming good at the right time? We knew this was going to be a tricky one; suddenly it looks a little trickier.

I think my comments were mistaken in this instance. I wasnt trying to wind anyone up on both sides so apologies to you Chorley Metz. The "bigging up" i mentioned was a bit of tongue in cheek myself as this is simply the banter i have between myself as a Barrow fan and a good 5/6 Chorley fans so i have mistaken the attitudes of them lads and generalised it here so apologies.
to explain my comments about the CDS and stewards this relates to a few incidents i have witnessed myself at VP. I heard a few lads at a game last season who were chanting "C C C D S" (repeat several times) and maybe wrongly guessed these chaps were still going, so apologies for that.
The stewarding vs FCUM last season was my referral in the other comment and do you know what i think your right that your stewards are really good on a normal matchday with no troublemakers in the home end. Unfortunately i witnessed some "private stewarding" from i think a member of your board and his son, and i think a player at the times own father manhandling some scrotty little chavs one of who had activated a smoke. So i guess again i used this experience at a large (yet oddly not segregated game) and this relates to my comments, so again i apologise Chorley Metz.
So please dont think i am trying to stir any trouble up between the fine folk of Chorley and the finer folk from Barrow. I hope Chorley get a playoff place following yesterdays win.
Hope that clears it up.
And if you do get a chance do please list the away friendly pubs as my local knowledge may point folk int wrong direction.

Re: Kick off time for Chorley
Just to underline, the match at Chorley will take place at 3pm, the time the game has been advertised at all season. I'm sure that Barrow will make a specific announcement about arrangements in the fullness of time, however I can confirm that segregation will be in place. This is for safety reasons - with at least a couple of thousand fans expected, it would be unsafe to have both sets of supporters swapping ends at half time, which is the norm at Victory Park
