I might be wrong but I'm sure Danny Lloyd at Fylde is there on loan from FleetwoodMoribund wrote:Regarding which players are on two-year deals, I'd heard that they were two-year part-time deals, but in the event of promotion (ie moving to full-time) all those deals will be renegotiated. Basically, I think that anyone who doesn't want to go full-time can clear off if they wish, and the club can chop whoever they don't think fits the bill for the Conf Prem.
There are a few that I don't think are good enough to play regularly in the Prem, but would still retain - you can't just cut 15 players, bring in 15 more and expect them to gel.
From the CN, I'd like Bogle and Lloyd from Fylde, but only other player I can recall that looked like he'd make the step up was one of the Boston centre backs (Piergianni, I'm pretty certain) and whoever Fylde's 6 in midfield was in both games against us.

No hes not.
I asked him about his plans for next year and he said
" im happy playing for a footballing side"
When we trialled him Under Bayliss he was told he wasn't good enough and lacked experience.

Yup, definitely the Oxford full back if we are brining in from Conf North but I think some sights may be a little higher.

Re: 5 Released
Agree re Oxford full back and Bogle but would like to think we are looking at players with experience in Conf .. Luton tried to get players from higher levels and it didn't work for them, not until they signed the likes of McNulty and few others with the mentality and experience of this level that's required to get you out of the Conference.
Going to be very interesting close season

Re: 5 Released
Yes, there will have to be a fair number kept in the squad but from what I've seen in a couple of live games and lots of match highli ght videos, the only players I would say who are good enough as first choice mid-table Conference Premier players would be Grand, Livesey, Cook, Howarth (not yet a Barrow player), Wilson (if fully fit) and possibly Walker for another season. Of course, the young left back from Preston looked the best player in the team from what I saw of him and maybe he'll get another season on loan.Moribund wrote:Regarding which players are on two-year deals, I'd heard that they were two-year part-time deals, but in the event of promotion (ie moving to full-time) all those deals will be renegotiated. Re: 5 Released
In my opinion it isnt all about going and whacking a load of cash on 'experienced conference players'. Look at our recent history, and the players that have gone from conf north to league 2 and higher, and how many even ourselves didnt rate.
We have a championship winning side, who would all be capable of playing in the conference imo. People referring to Mcnulty, he was a van driver when he was with us, not an 'experienced' conference player and look how well hes done.
Nathan Pond, still playing for Fleetwood in League 1, he started off in the lower leagues with them, and lancaster, shows players who are part of a team can make the step up, no need to go signing a shit load of 30 year olds who have been appearing in the conference, just for the sake of it.
Would be interesting to see how many people, believe our team this season would have survived in the conference? I do.

Re: 5 Released
It all a matter of opinion and much as I'd like to see the team do well - particularly as I'll be able to get to a good few games in the south next season - I think the current Barrow side without being strengthened would be certain to be relegated from the Conference Premier.Steeley wrote:In my opinion it isnt all about going and whacking a load of cash on 'experienced conference players'. Re: 5 Released
Agree no wholesale changes required! But what we do add to the squad have to be of a quality as to improve us especially in the midfield area. Also due to the physical demands of the Conference National league we may require a slightly bigger squad this season. AFC Telford looked on paper like they were good enough to survive but alas they got found out!

Re: 5 Released
I think the current side is better than the couple that staved off relegation (and obviously the one that finally succumbed to relegation) from the Conference. Any players brought in though need to be thought of as potentially capable of playing in League 2.Steeley wrote:In my opinion it isnt all about going and whacking a load of cash on 'experienced conference players'. Re: 5 Released
Some folk seem to have very strong opinions based on not actually seeing the team in the flesh or having seen 'potential signings' once, maybe twice.
Chill out, enjoy your summer and switch back on in August to the news of who we've signed or whether or not we've put a roof on Wayne Curtis etc.
