In all seriousness, I'd like to endorse Ste's offer of assistance to the club here, and am sure his experience would be of great value to BAFC. Peter G, can you consider Ste's offer here, and the many others he has made in the past, and seriously consider taking him up (either formally or informally).

Do I have a seconder?

thirded.

Dealt with Ste through work a couple of times, Does what he says, when he says he will, the way it was agreed.

Wouldn't need to be forever but for 6 months and wouldn't cost a lot (sorry Ste :D ).

But no one is properly in charge down there so no one would be allowed to take control of things. That's a real problem. The other one is that the club historically think everyone on this forum talks rubbish about what goes on in the shop and don't have a clue. It's also a hangover from previous eras IMO when the staff there had to keep what little money we had in, keep a low profile and avoid increasingly angry local creditors. Even when Martin was there, it was difficult to tell who was in charge of who; there was Barry Fitzgerald whose role wasn't clearly defined... :?

The problems still exist because previously there were hardworking people running the club as an extra to their own jobs but who were unpaid and so not helping day to day with enquiries. Now we have a millionaire benefactor running the club, obviously not there and not doing day to day, who has sent his son- from my limited knowledge f him a nice lad but it would be like sending me to run a university in Wisconsin -, some experience of education but not a jot in the setting. If I worked hard in that office, fielding criticism and creditors for years, and the new era was organised the same as the old, I would be cynical about the whole thing IMO.

There is the same drift as ever was- nowt has changed except the bills are paid and another summer wasted. If you do read this Paul (and I know you read the forum) the problem is a management one. Please give someone overall charge over the others, re define who does what through proper appraisal and MAKE them stick to it. But don't populate it with directors with other jobs trying to do it part time- that didn't work before. Sorry if that sounds dull everyone but it will work, everyone will be much happier as they will understand what they are doing and the club will do all right commercially, as we have a decent team and a few bob now. Anyway that's my two bobs worth-if only to stop a former member of this forum populating my news feed with increasingly hysterical twitter exchanges. Who knows, we might even make some money.

If I didn't Steve , the shirts wouldn't have been advertised as they were on the official site yesterday and the hospitality packages would still be on the shelf. Persistance does work. The club is failing and no one seems arsed about it. Like yesterday, I was told to " Email the club" , I think this is because its easier to ignore an email with it not being in the public eye.

Its ok people coming on here taking the [SwearFilter] and laughing about it , however that won't change anything. Steve Casson appears to be doing very little at the moment and that needs to change

Ste Story would be perfect for a kind of Social Media Officer type role, It would be the best signing the club would make all season.

+1

Someone like Ste Story would be perfect for the club.

As for the Commercial side its very poor but S Casson is very approachable i have had a couple of conversations with him he is a nice bloke.

He just needs someone that isn't a director to come in and be able to work full time with him who understands Barrow.

And out of all the ranting, raving, mud slinging and going over the same old, same old by the usual same old, same old comes a few posts of sense.

The club should at least contact Ste over his offer - no harm in doing so at all.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Austin Straker? I thought that was his job. If he's there 3 days a week, as he says he will be, he's the one who should be sticking his nose into every corner and finding out what the heck is going on and making sure offers like those from Ste Story and, I think, Suffolk Blue are, at least, followed up (even if he doesn't do it himself).
It all comes 'round again.

Sees a decent bloke Austin I fear it's the same way of handling things as before. IMO- we'll see.

I think it would be great for the club to use Ste storeys passion and knowledge
Not only would the club be taking on an IT guru, but they would get a first aid responder and a high street banker,
And thats not cockney rhyming slang!!!!

With the same old age clique that have to have an opinion on the poster and send us all to sleep with very boring posts ....

To the original point...... Thats it though, the club won't contact Ste. They are useless! When help is offered their way they don't get back to you and if they do they think you want to help by selling raffle tickets on match days. Check Johnny Tranters post for example. He has offered to give his time up to help the club on the commercial side of things as thats where his background is based and the email hasnt been even replied to. Havn't you offered help a few times Ste and again nothing has happened?

Commericialy , the clubs just stuck in first gear and just doesn't want help. People in there are paid to do as little as possible and they get away with it.
This forum identifies the problems that someone at the club should be finding. They even offer solutions , they email the club to tell them to let them know.

Do any fans actually want it to change? Or is everyone happy to joke and comment on how bad it is on here and do nothing and let it continue? because here all I see is the same old defenders of the club on here that can't see whats wrong with it all mixed with the people who do see whats wrong but do [SwearFilter] all about it and just make jokes of it.

The club needs a kicking up the [SwearFilter] and myself and others have emailed them telling them they do and the head of all that is commercial just replies to the original query which was answered terribly by the Barrow AFC main office in the first place. The office which should be the first port of call for any Barrow AFC related query.

This cannot continue. Throwing cash around without making any to subsidise it is not good business.

He doesn't need to. Tbh there's not alot bad to say about Steve imo, he's trying hard and genuinely wants the best for the club I think he's just struggling a bit with "getting it" and needs a hand.

Andy Burns tried hard last year and wanted the best for the club.

Just a 'devil's advocate' point a former member of this forum lad, but as we're still technically non-league you can't really expect the club to run like some well oiled and slick professional machine, can you, especially when it comes to answering every and any Tom, [SwearFilter] and Harry's email message?
As has been said, you could have found out the info you wanted in other ways. I stress I am in no way just blindly defending the club - I agree it's not ideal - just doing the 'devil's advocate' thing, like I say.
