Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
I agree with most of this except you do us a disservice, Barrow by its self is 50k plus but add in the Duddon area towns & slightly beyond & including the Furness Peninsula & our immediate catchment area rises to the 120/130k figure & unlike everywhere else we don't have higher league clubs on our doorstep to complete with for support, can we get 2 then 3, or even eventually as high as 4% interested enough to attend on a regular basis?russell_anderson wrote:Crowds will improve next season if the team is successful from the beginning but Barrow will never get huge crowds in comparison to many other National League clubs because it's population is much less than most (Tranmere i.e. The Wirral over 300,000, Halifax 95,000, Chester 77,000, Barrow 54,000) and most other places have huge population areas on their doorstep whereas Barrow has nothing. The only advantage for Barrow is that there are no other clubs competing for supporters (the main reason why London based non-league clubs generally have poor support) but that's not enough to offset the low population.
That's what we'd need eventually if we are to get back into the FL & be sustainable.

Don't think you are allowed to drink on the terrace -
I also don't think a free pint to everyone after the game would work they couldn't cope with that
With only two home games left this Saturday is family day and hopefully on the last game of the season we will see a good atmosphere with a fair few away fans / maybe some more giveaways to fans and maybe the new shirts on display

Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
My understanding:
Drinking within sight of the pitch is banned by law in any competition if either club in the match is at National League National level or above, and in all FA Cup matches from the 1st Round Proper onwards. See http://www.safetyatsportsgrounds.org.uk ... s-act-1985
The FA also bans drinking on the terraces at ALL FA Cup games regardless of the round and the teams involved. See http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/More/Rules rule 13(xiv).

It was allowed (rightly or wrongly) at Fylde last year.

I was one of the First Aid squad that dealt with that situation.boyliegladbach wrote:What happened in the stand last night. Looked like someone got taken away on a stretcher
Obviously I can't release any personal information but an elderly gentleman suffered a knee injury that incapacitated him and the only way to remove the casulaty fom the stand was to use our stretcher. It is something we train for - more so on-pitch injuries - but it certainly was a challenge removing a casualty from the very top of the stand, down the steps and along the pitch-side. The look on Paul Cox's face and those on the Barrow bench was priceless. Double takes all round as we walked past with the guy on our bright orange board.
The guy was in a lot of pain and we worked to stabilise him in the treatment room whilst the town ambulance was called. He was despatched to FGH just after 10pm.
'ere luv....does this smell like chloroform to you??

The FA may have changed the rules for this season. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:It was allowed (rightly or wrongly) at Fylde last year.

Naughty Fylde then!
Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
As far as I'm aware the alcohol on the terraces policy doesn't apply to those in the football pyramid at level six and below. But does apply to clubs that do or have played at level five and above. So Fylde if promoted will have no drinking on the terraces and that ruling would still apply if they got relegated the following season.
Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
Agree, even under Edmo when we were doing ok you always felt that if we conceded one we would let in a bag full, that certainly doesn't seem the case now!! The effort put in to protect our goal is immense.Ste Story wrote:That's the sort of performance we've been looking for, fight, effort and a decent amount of ability too.
Everyone has pretty much summed it up, Livesey, ARH, Cookie phenomenal, Walker, Sutton and the rest all worthy of small mentions. Howarth another who looks a different player. Don't think Grand was too bad tbh, he's become a bit of a whipping boy for some reason.
Special mention to Parry, doesn't get a lot of plaudits due to the quiet way he goes about his business, but we look a much better team with him in the side, supports the defence when needed and sits to allow other players to attack.
Really enjoyed last night which is the first time I've said that after a home game in quite a while!
Re: Braintree (H) Match Thread
We weren't allowed when we played Brackley in the FA Cup but we were when we played them in the league. I think Fylde just messed up/weren't aware of the rule. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:Spanner wrote:
