Re: BAFC V Rochdale.
Had a great day out only spoiled by the result. However, you can see why Rochdale are challenging for Div 1 honours. They are a quality side who dealt with everything we could throw at them quite competently.
At 0-1 (shocking defending) we had a great chance to equalise through Bennett but his shot was parried by the keeper and then he saved Diarra's follow up.Apart from that and one or goalmouth scrambles we failed to trouble Rochdale although in the second half Bennett failed to find Harrison clear in the middle in front of goal.
As we tried to push forward Rochdale breached our defence on several occasions but poor finishing kept the score at 0-2.
No complaints whatsoever, even the ref was decent and it was great to see Holker Street full and in fine voice.
We have to forget the FA Cup experience now, starting on Tues against Southport and getting back to winning ways.
Hope to see a good crowd but on Tuesday evening it maybe 1400.

I thought we were rubbish. No plan B when things aren't working. Weird subs.
See you all Tuesday and Saturday.

Ross Hannah must be due a start on Tuesday, just isn't working for Harrison up top at the moment. Rest could do him good

It's not harrisons fault half the time Bennett can't read what he's going to do sorry but I just don't rate Bennett he tries and always gives his all but we need better at this level (ross hannah) is a much better and cleverer player than Bennett .HenneysKnee wrote:Ross Hannah must be due a start on Tuesday, just isn't working for Harrison up top at the moment. Re: BAFC V Rochdale.
Sorry we went too early with the banner..I misread it with the music and activity in the tunnel. Thanks to all who helped. Atmosphere was patchy for me, great in bits, rubbish in bits.
They were much better than us..boy tidying up at the back (18?) and the lad 14 on the wing were superb. They could mix it too and refused to let us get up a head of steam. Good side.
Danny Livesey for just holding back the river better than most deserved MOM.
And yet...we had a few moments when things didn't fall for us and we could have got something, plodded away etc. I feel we weren't ourselves at points, we utterly failed to make them uncomfortable. I thought the likes of Jordan and Moussa might have learned they've a bit to do yet to play in the league..
But we've had great days out, Bristol was brilliant, so proud of the side over the first half of the season. However we are flat and are desperate for a win.
Biggest game of the season by miles so far on Tuesday.

Need two wins before Lincoln or could prove to be a very difficult month. They were better than us the day
I wanna take you to an Away Bar

Disappointing day. I thought we should have made more of a game of it. One dimensional style, just lumping the ball forward which Rochdale found easy to deal with. I feel guilty saying it, but we looked poor today.

Re: BAFC V Rochdale.
I think we have reached a crossroads where our game plan based on solid defence and grinding teams down and using the most from set pieces has been sussed out plus the fact by using more or less the same team these players look worn out we need about 4 more quality players to freshen up the squad, today we needed someone like turnull what the hell is going on there it's getting beyond a joke the amount of games he's missedJim wrote:Disappointing day. I thought that the atmosphere was a little bit disappointing, where I was stood on the popular side towards the holker street end, was good pre match and then throughout the game it was virtually silent which was at odds with a full stadium, leaving me feel slightly underwhelmed by the whole experience, could have been much louder and intimidating for Rochdale, whose fans were in good voice.

Totally agree, Hannah for Bennett is a must.blue nige wrote:It's not harrisons fault half the time Bennett can't read what he's going to do sorry but I just don't rate Bennett he tries and always gives his all but we need better at this level (ross hannah) is a much better and cleverer player than Bennett .HenneysKnee wrote:Ross Hannah must be due a start on Tuesday, just isn't working for Harrison up top at the moment. I named 3 substitutions today that had to happen with 30 mins to go. I got all 3 correct. Hughes, Bennet and Rowe were poor.
Think it might of been a different game with Akil Wright starting. Looked good last few weeks and we improved when he came on.
Forward line struggling to find form. What do you do when you can't buy a goal but you have a 20+ goalscorer on the bench?
Re: BAFC V Rochdale.
Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say you were beaten by the better side, there is certainly no shame in that especially when you look at the gulf in league standings.
One or two in the side probably didn't do themselves full justice but you can't be on your "A" game at all times. Danny Livesey put in his usual all for the cause shift. I also thought Alex- Ray Harvey worked his socks off just sitting in front of the back four but saying that our midfield were stiffled as an attacking threat. On the other hand the Rochdale 10) Camps dictated play and more times than not he was involved in creating some great moves for the Rochdale forwards to run us raged at times.
Akil Wright was a positive when he came on as a sub, but we provided very little ammunition overall to the feet of Byron Harrison and Richie Bennett then latterly Ross Hannah but that's probably due to a very organised Rochdale team that seemed to have done their homework superbly.
Enjoyed our run in the FA Cup, but it's back down to earth with a bump. We have a great opportunity to put it all behind us on Tuesday night and prove we are capable of bouncing back with the character we have shown for the mainstay of the season thus far.

Re: BAFC V Rochdale.
I agree. As far as I'm concerned the outstanding players in the team are the back 4 and Harrison and Harrison is far superior to Bennett. I'd also like to see Hannah given a run but instead of Bennett not Harrison. I can see why Paul Cox plays Bennett because he's a big lad and can head the ball on from long punts up the field but that doesn't work with teams as good as Rochdale.blue nige wrote:It's not harrisons fault half the time Bennett can't read what he's going to do sorry but I just don't rate Bennett he tries and always gives his all but we need better at this level (ross hannah) is a much better and cleverer player than Bennett .HenneysKnee wrote:Ross Hannah must be due a start on Tuesday, just isn't working for Harrison up top at the moment. I think a lot of us agree, but not the manager at the moment.russell_anderson wrote:I agree.
