Depends on how long Cox allows it to continue.russell_anderson wrote:The problem being that if that is the reason and they are massively disinterested then we won't beat any of the top sides!BoltonBlue wrote:A few of the team seem to be massively disinterested since their hopeful moves to the FL havnt come off and are just moping around with their heads up their behinds now which is having a negative impact on the team as a whole..Byron Harrison being a clear example.
Saying that we surprisingly still find ourselves 3 points off the play offs with 2 games in hand with a lot of the top sides still left to play.
We do have the talent to beat anyone in this league, sadly the application has dropped since the Dagenham game.

Cox can`t do anything unless he gets the funds and then if the players want to come here!BoltonBlue wrote:Depends on how long Cox allows it to continue.russell_anderson wrote:The problem being that if that is the reason and they are massively disinterested then we won't beat any of the top sides!

None of the recent results surprise me because of the way we play set-up, it all depends on grinding teams down and a lot of physical effort no team playing like this can keep it up then with a small squad when we get injuries we haven``t got the players to do what Cox wants.
I don`t think Cox will take this much longer without backing i can see him going.
Re: York City v Barrow
Cox's the man to find out whats going wrong but were not having that bit of luck anymore plus we do miss yates every team has this blip lets get behind the team

Answer to this one pretty simple.whitty1969 wrote:Yep, CM been missing for a few seasons now. Yates was great but now we are relying solely on ARH then just top 10 for us now.
When Joel made a few mistakes everyone wanted him out, well grass Isen't greener chaps and we are really missing him...
Why do we have to keep playing Hughes and Bennett? Think Akil Wright is a far better player....
We are totally committed to the long ball.
It is our dominating tactic.
Tall men.
As I've said before EVERY throw (apart from when it can be lobbed into the box) goes down the line.
Bennet on the left goes up for it, Hughes on the right.
Both tall men. Currently pretty much the only option.

I have to confess, I am a big Joel Dixon fan. Cannot wait to see his play in a few more seasons.
Re: York City v Barrow
Forget about the results the football on show is terrible I know it's a results business but at least try and play some football teams have worked us out and we're now fully exposed .hannahs not getting a look in cos he's a footballer not a kick n chase player .everyone's jumped on the bandwagon and God knows how barrow have gone 26 games unbeaten cos the games that u have viewed have been nothing short of awful.

Well that was garbage all round today. Difficult to pick anyone out who performed well. Diarra had an absolute stinker and was lucky to still be on the pitch after two horribly timed challenges (not dirty, just clumsy) - he should have been hauled off by Cox at half time as he was getting bullied repeatedly by Parkin and run ragged by Morgan-Smith. Rhead & Arnold will be licking their lips when they see the video of that.
Harvey has somehow been masquerading as a footballer for 4 years now and I am sure he will up his game in about a months time as we get close to contract renewal time again. Hughes and Williams have pretty much gone missing and Harrison is spending more time throwing his arms in the air in disgust than he is playing football. We haven't put in a performance since the back to back wins at Daggers and Bristol Rovers and if we don't win on Tuesday then it will be over 2 months since our last league win.
The 26 game unbeaten run is a distant memory and we are massively on the slide. Huge week or two ahead now as our season could be over by mid Feb if we don't turn this around. People are doubting whether missing Yates could really be the difference and whilst one man certainly doesn't make a team it is no co-incidence that our strong run happened whilst he was at the club. Central midfield is key to any football team and whilst Turnbull could do a job in there, he has spent so much time on the treatment table that we need more options
The "usual" away supporters were great as always however we had the customary few tools that crawled out of the woodwork for their once or twice a season trip out. Zero understanding of football demonstrated by them as always but go in search of trouble and conflict wherever they can find it, even amongst their own fans. Police presence was insane even around the city centre but the previous actions of a few idiots have unfortunately brought that upon us. Ref was weak and lost control of the game but not the root cause of our demise.
Despite all this had a fab trip to the beautiful city of York having travelled up Friday lunchtime. Celebrated a couple of the exiles birthdays in style and with a bargain £5 advance rail fare each way from London to York we really did have a #lovelytime

It was obvious even during our unbeaten run, that sooner or later we'd run out of steam or get found out - we certainly rode our luck at times during that period!!
The run papered over the cracks that we obviously had, and I'm pretty sure Cox knew this. This isn't a side he's put together to win the league, but 'team 1' in a longer project, if we'd chugged along and been sat in 10th position most fans would have been relatively happy with our progress.
However, we put ourselves in a great position to kick on, and it's been disappointing to see players crumble confidence wise under the pressure of performing week in week out, but look at the lack of experience in key areas and not really surprising.
Not surprised ARH has vanished, he fed off Yates's energy and now is showing he isn't a strong enough player to drive the midfield. We need Turnbull to show us he was the signing we all hoped he'd be. Still think we can stay around the mix of the play offs, but also wouldn't surprise me if we drop away to mid table.
Cue 3-0 drubbing of Lincoln Tuesday

Re: York City v Barrow
It wasn't good, but we did not deserve to lose, especially the way we did. The ref was atrocious and not only missed many fouls but even managed to give free kicks the wrong way on several occasions. It would not have surprised me to see him enjoying a slap-up meal at a 4 star hotel in York after the game. The linesman wasn't much better - he managed to award two successive goal kicks to York when they were clearly corners to us (shout of "third time lucky" from someone when he awarded the next corner) and on another occasion watched Bennett wrestled to the ground right in front of him and flagged for a free kick to York. York's winning goal came after Beeley received a clear two-handed push in the back. Instead of a free kick to us, York got a throw in that led to a corner. That led to a second corner from which they scored.
Having got the complaints over, I have to say we did nothing in the first half and it was a case of two poor teams playing out what should have been a goalless first half but for a mistake by Diarra, who hesitated and caused confusion between him and Flatt (no blame on the latter IMO). In the second half, we were much better, York were under pressure for long spells but we still lacked the quality and creativity to make decent chances. Once Williams scored, having robbed the keeper of the ball, I really believed we would go on and win it. Instead, we went back into our shell and allowed York to dominate possession again.
Overall we deserved a point. Quality was poor, too much long ball as usual and precious little creativity. Anderton was stand-out MoM for me, his surges down the wing in the second half, Steve Higgins style, were one of our few threats. Livesey excellent as usual. Can't agree with the criticism of Harvey, I thought he worked hard and did a lot more than Turnbull who was largely ineffective. Also can't agree that the team lacked effort and passion - I felt they were working hard, just lacked the quality and a bit of luck. The only one I can't weigh up is Harrison. Is he dejected, frustrated with his team mates, or not interested? Hard to tell, but presumably Mr Cox knows.
