Possible Nick Anderton/Jordan Williams bids?

Post by John Very Little » Mon Jan 30, 2017 1:58 am

Seen a bit on various social media sites about a possible 75K bid from Bradford City for Nick Anderton but surprisingly not mentioned on its own thread on here yet, can someone post a link if they see anything? To be fair after a dodgy start to the season he's been pretty good during our unbeaten run and of late so will be interesting to see if anything comes of it? Whether or not he'd be able to handle League 1 I wouldn't like to guess but we'd miss him seen as we don't really have a replacement?

From Bradford City's facebook page:
Bradford City are rumoured to have submitted a £75,000 bid for Barrow full-back Nick Anderton.
The 20 year old has been scouted by Leicester, Swansea and Burnley following his performances in the Conference Premier this season.

Bradford's head of recruitment, former Carlisle manager Greg Abbott, was in attendance at Holker St on Saturday.

Gets a mention here;

Think Nicks Dad is his agent so his best interests should be well looked after.

Apparently Jake Speight is now Nicks agent, a former Mansfield player for Barrow manager Paul Cox.

Strengthening seemingly becoming increasingly key by the day.
Popular side since '03.

Well good luck to Nick whatever the outcome, been a solid performer this season. He got MOTM on Saturday despite getting a bit of a runaround from their winger who was initially on his way to us by all accounts.

Our management by proxy is starting to luck rather counter-productive again, we need a signing, some plans, some input, something...

We were described in the media pre-Rochdale as 'marooned on a windswept peninsula', and it is beginning to feel like it at the moment with perhaps the words 'and forgotten' inserted after 'marooned'.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

No surprise, he has been our best player this season after Livesey. However, we would be mad to let him go as we have no replacement at left back.

I agree. In the matches I've seen over the last 2 years Anderton and Livesey together with Harrison have been the stand-out players in the Barrow side and, because of his younger age, Anderton is the most likeley to attract interest from Football League clubs. However, he did struggle defensively against Stearn and Deacon when I saw him at Sutton (although he got little or no support from Williams in that match and had 2 good players running at him most of the time) and it seems as though he struggled against Forest Green so, maybe, he isn't quite up to Football League level defensively? He'd certainly be a huge loss if he moved on.

Would be a massive loss to us at this stage of the season while we are challenging for a play off place.Would be sorry to see him go but good luck to him on his next step up the ladder.
Unfortunately we haven't got a natural replacement.

I'm sure Cox and Co have a list of potential replacements in an position we may lose players in the window;- including left back
Lancashire;- born and bred

Indeed but sometimes young players go backwards before going forwards again. Much depends on one manager's view and also the player(s) you are competing against at any club.
