It was by far the worst violence i have seen yesterday. Awful group of kids who need to be sent down for their behaviour. There was never that kind of thing in the 80's or 90's so why now? Ban them all.
Really think we should be looking at all seating in the ground now as well, it would stop these gatherings.

I know what you're saying but wherever we put away fans there is always going to be potential for trouble - whether that's from some of our idiots or the away supporters. Remember when they were on the West Terrace? there was trouble then as well. Its not an easy one to solve in a ground that simply wasn't built with any thought of this sort of thing happening.

We also have to take advice of various groups when deciding where to put away supporters, so not just down to us (BAFC) It really is a tough one.

CLUB STATEMENT...

On what was an exciting start to our 2017/18 season yesterday with a pre-season opener against Blackburn Rovers, the club was extremely disappointed by the behaviour of some individuals in the ground who had no interest in watching a game of football.

Barrow AFC would like to make it clear that those involved are in no way true supporters of the club, and we are extremely proud and grateful to our true supporters, who stepped in to help resolve the situation.

We have full video footage of the incident and will work with both our stewards and the police to identify those involved. Action will be taken on anyone found to be involved, including a season long ban from the Furness Building Society Stadium for the most egregious offenders.

If you have any information regarding the identities of these individuals, please contact the club from 9am tomorrow morning on 01229 666010 or email us at office@barrowafc.com. Any information passed on to us will be handled in strict confidence.

Everyone at the club including the Staff, Players and Supporters are working hard to progress on and off the pitch, and we do not need incidents like this to ruin this progress, and the name of the club and the town.

That flimsy fencing on The Holker End is like a red flag to a bull - anyone wishing to goad away fans heads straight for it.

Why not house away fans in the corner section between the Main Stand and The Crossbar End?

The 'various groups' you mention need to do a reality check.
And whoever thought of housing visiting fans in The Holker End needs to have a serious word with himself!
This problem isn't going to go away. If the current segregation policy continues there could be serious consequences...

Not "flimsy" surely.....took us two Sunday mornings to remove the old fence, build the new one and beef that up

I know what you're saying and there'll no doubt be meetings now set up to discuss this again. I've already spoken to Andrew Casson this morning with regards to a few options, plus had several e-mails and texts off supporters with information that I will be passing onto the club.

Would you suggest that it would be a good thing, conducive to positive behaviour, to have home supporters walking through the away section three times each match?

Has it not occurred to you that the availability of easy coach parking adjacent to the reservoir corner may be a factor? Nor that using the West Terrace and the 'B' section of seating for away fans prevents easy access to and from The Crossbar for home fans?
