Re: Ogdens Nut Gone Flake
Interesting after a bit of a hiatus folk are putting stuff on re the manner of Cox's departure. Hardly a surprise.
Don't think anyone is telling us the full craic in the right way, maybe no one has to but it would surely make life a bit easier if they could. Everything depends who you are asking...
A plague on all their houses, wasted energy going over it again and again.
There's our football club there. It's in our town, if 20 years allows me to say our. In the sense that most football fans mean, it is still ours, history, tradition, culture, family or local ties, whatever. In a business sense it isn't.

Paul Casson said on RC He was bemoaning our lack of fitness caused by a bad pre season prep & thought it’s played a part with our injuries, Sounds like a lot of poop was going on behind the scenes closed season.

Might have helped if the club had training gear ready for new players so they didn't have to train in their own gear.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 1:09 pmmickmike wilson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 12:23 pm Paul Casson said on RC He was bemoaning our lack of fitness caused by a bad pre season prep & thought it’s played a part with our injuries, Sounds like a lot of poop was going on behind the scenes closed season.

Agree both sides must be at fault or Cox would have been sacked.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 12:09 pm Interesting after a bit of a hiatus folk are putting stuff on re the manner of Cox's departure. Hardly a surprise.

It would also help if we trained in the Furness area. Okay; I realise most, if not all, our squad are based many miles away; but what happened to Paul Casson's initial plan to have 5/6 players - including the captain - living locally? The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 1:10 pmMight have helped if the club had training gear ready for new players so they didn't have to train in their own gear.
Barrow Raiders, apparently had 21 local players in their squad this season. It breeds loyalty and team spirit among the players and enhances the bond between the team and supporters of the club.

If barrow played at north west counties level near enough the equivalent level the rugby played at this season then we would have a team full of locals.

Re: Ogdens Nut Gone Flake
I would prefer to watch a team who live locally play in the norther premier/lower conference north than have what we have had for my entire life time - a team of mancs, scousers and mackems play for us. I'd love players to train locally, live locally and really have a connection with the town. I appreciate this will probably never happen but it would be great!barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 2:39 pmSorry but you can't compare rugby league to football. The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 2:16 pm

Re: Ogdens Nut Gone Flake
You mean you can't compare the standard of Rugby League that Barrow Raiders play to the standard of Football Barrow AFC play? I agree - but maybe Barrow AFC should be looking at methods of instilling loyalty, team spirit and a love for the town among its players? Paul Casson's plan was to introduce players into the locality...what's happened?barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 2:39 pmSorry but you can't compare rugby league to football. The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 2:16 pm

It would be great to have the team train locally on the Friday before a home match and double that up with community initiatives.
