question for Paul Casson

Paul I'm in my 60's as are you and yes I was one of many who went to school with you. We all shared a dream for many years that one day we will get back into the football league. 1972 was a year of real significance in my life my team the only one I really knew was unceremoniously dumped and I left town never to return except for visits.

I and I'm sure many others shared your dream "if I win the lottery..." but were never in a position to influence things.

I'm sure you are a very good business man but you have approached the whole thing as a fan with money rather than also having the knowledge of how to run a football club. I can well understand that given you live so far away you felt you had to have someone "running the show" you could trust and Andrew fits the bill as far as that is concerned. Unfortunately he has no knowledge whatsoever about running a football club which is so very different to running a business.

Hindsight will no doubt tell you that what you should have done in addition to the business due diligence when buying ie checking there were no financial skeletons, was fundamentally to have found some "football people" who you could trust to "run the show".

I fear it may now be too late but if you truly love this club then revisit this before there is any further demoralisation of everyone.

1. Release Andrew from his position.

2. Appoint a football man to run the place albeit within your financial constraints

3. Trust that man to engage marketing people to get out there and generate funds and restore the links with the fans

4. Yes looking forward try to better the academy etc to produce local players and if possible training facilities in Barrow but in the meantime lets stop bringing in players from darn sarf when the travelling and costs are ridiculous.

5. Back to 2. trust this man to sort out with you a new manager coach and scouts to get in north west based players who give a toss and are prepared to fight for the club.

6. I'm sure you are very disappointed that the attendances are not higher and whilst I share some of that particularly when we were having a good year and finishing 7th you really can't expect people to turn up and pay good money to watch the dross on offer this year and the equally poor facilities. It's all very well sorting things out like boilers floodlights and corporate stuff (albeit badly) but what about the poor sods stood out in the cold and rain in the winter? So much for your "match day experience".

The most frustrating thing for me is that there are so many really good hearted people at Barrow AFC who would give so much to the club if you let them. We have IT experts, builders etc but they have all historically been cast aside.

Paul to use an American phrase its about time to "wake up and smell the coffee". It's not too late you just have to embrace the people who love this club, involve them and trust people to do the right thing.

Think a lot will also agree. It's been everyone else's fault bar the person running the show for the last two years. If alarm bells aren't ringing in the owners ears now then they never will.
But when it comes to family sometimes we are just blind!!

Agree wholeheartedly Dave P. As my forum name suggests, I was at the same school as Paul Casson at about the same time, and have supported the club for 50+ years. These are dark days indeed...nearly as bad as the mid-seventies after our league exit. But, as always, we remain hopeful!

I thought Paul may have drawn in some private sector money. To do a joint development with hotel gym or business to develop part of the ground but how wrong I was Even the keens entered into discussions on this kind of thing and plans/ options were drawn up. As disappointed as I am in all this still excited that even a squad of part time players could do better than last year
