Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
Glad that we're moving in quickly to bring some lads in, it does seem like we are bringing in some leaders with Granite and one of those signed today also being a former captain, will be exciting next season nonetheless and is a bit of an experiment that is making me feel nostalgic for Shelton Payne.
Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
Had his fingers burnt last year by a con artist of a manager he trusted which probably cost him God knows how much more - and probably will carry on this year - The ars3 has fallen out of the telecom market in the USA and your business isn't doing as well as it was, a business that is holding us afloat - maybe not swimming strongly, but afloat. So what do you do? Carry on pumping millions into it that you don't currently have, or do you come up with a different strategy to keep the club solvent and functioning.Pedro wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 9:08 pmCorrect I am not a sychopant of the owner.Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 8:34 pm
You are such a misery. As someone else said, you don’t show that you are supporter of the team at all. You seem to be wallowing in the upheaval.
He is the one causing the upheaval, lifted false hopes.
So does it upset me as a supporter from 1967 yes.
It also upsets me that people think it's acceptable to continually make promised.
Be it a new stadium, football league in 5 years or we will back Ady once he saved us.
We are now.seeing a team being assembled with little experience.
If this is not a recipe for relegation you tell me
I will not see eye to eye with some people but the way we are going is a gradual wind down.
Last season equal or better replacement for Bennet etc it never happened along with alot of.other promises
Yes it aint perfect, yes he made silly statements in the beginning that in all fairness most folk thought were a bit pie in the sky, but if it happened we'd be happy as!!
The current statement is a sensible one IMO, lets give it a chance, after all it wasn't so great last year with the fortune he spent... and please don't regurgitate your usual conspiracy theories, why not put your energy into supporting the club instead of seemingly trying to find things that aren't there..
If we go down, so be it.. its happened before and will probably happen again sometime, that's life...
Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
Very underwhelmed by the signings so far...but was to be expected I guess. I know it’s only three players so far but no experience at this level in a league where experience and know how is key?! I do wonder what sort of manager we’re going to attract as well...it’s a survival battle at best and one I don’t think we’ll win this time. I do wish Andrew Casson would stop with the ridiculous quotes as well, something about playing well rain or shine...what nonsense. The same clown who said Edmondson was the best manager in non league football and that Mickey Moore was an outstanding candidate. Doesn’t fill me with confidence for the next appointment or the future in general...

Probably not that great, I suspect. Last season we were 10/1 against being in the bottom 4. This season I'll be surprised if we're not odds-on.paddy71 wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 7:46 pmWhat odds did he/you get Pedro?Pedro wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 6:51 pm
Just read the mail where it said Paul Ogden was coming back.
It goes on to say the Manager will not be a Manager with National League experience or above but a up and coming Manager from lower league.
So inexperienced players and inexperienced Manager not really planning well for next Season I wonder if it's Holt or the Managers from Workington are going to be offered the job
See on Barrow AFC twitter one guy has put a bet of £20 for Barrow to have less than 30 points this season.

Yes that's true. He was a great entertainer whilst guarding his goals and used to keep us kids entertained with his antics.
Welcome to all these lads that have signed up for next season and those who are still to do so. Nothing could be worse than last season so I am quite looking forward to the new one and I don't care which league they are from as long as they want to play for us and give their all.

Ive nothing against these lads been given a chance at a higher level and they may well give it their all every game but lets be realistic, this policy of signing players from 2/3/4 leagues below is going to see us relagated unless we sign some established players from national league level to play alongside them.
We need a manager in asap to bring some of his own players in.

Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
Let's be realistic here. With the attendances we get what league should we be in? Even the season before last when we finished 7th we weren't getting the numbers in required to progress further. Ah yes attractive football, well that aint going to happen with the players we can afford. Consistency isn't a major factor with players at these levels.michaelstreet75 wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 10:34 am Ive nothing against these lads been given a chance at a higher level and they may well give it their all every game but lets be realistic, this policy of signing players from 2/3/4 leagues below is going to see us relagated unless we sign some established players from national league level to play alongside them.

Football League remains what it is---a dream.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, as the old saying goes.
We are Barrow AFC and we will continue to moan ans gripe and complain but still turn up week after week. It's what we do.
Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
What really bugs me is that we moan that we wait all summer and recruit the dead wood last minute and the club get slated for it. Like we are aware - we dont have the money to be recruiting the big players, BUT we are signing players who have clearly been on the radar - whether it be from Ogden, the new manager (that is apparently already in place just not announced for legal reasons) or whatever - end of the day we are signing players early meaning the team can gel. We signed the likes of Williams, Bennett and Diarra from lower leagues and potentially a couple of the best players we have seen in several years at the club. Why can we not just get behind the club for their decisions and reserve judgement until we have seen these players???michaelstreet75 wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 10:34 am Ive nothing against these lads been given a chance at a higher level and they may well give it their all every game but lets be realistic, this policy of signing players from 2/3/4 leagues below is going to see us relagated unless we sign some established players from national league level to play alongside them.

I see that the 'North Wales Pioneer' newspaper reporting on the signings says that "Barrow have a significant budget ahead of a possible promotion tilt". If only!

Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
I did see the original Jack Hindle play when I was a very young boy. He returned to the town after his big move was over, must have been mid to late 1950’s. I don’t think he played for us too long second time around but I do remember he helped out at Vickers Sports Club for a few years. I worked with his son a few years later
