+1 couldn't of put it betterBig E wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 9:22 pmHad his fingers burnt last year by a con artist of a manager he trusted which probably cost him God knows how much more - and probably will carry on this year - The ars3 has fallen out of the telecom market in the USA and your business isn't doing as well as it was, a business that is holding us afloat - maybe not swimming strongly, but afloat. So what do you do? Carry on pumping millions into it that you don't currently have, or do you come up with a different strategy to keep the club solvent and functioning.Pedro wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 9:08 pm
Correct I am not a sychopant of the owner.
He is the one causing the upheaval, lifted false hopes.
So does it upset me as a supporter from 1967 yes.
It also upsets me that people think it's acceptable to continually make promised.
Be it a new stadium, football league in 5 years or we will back Ady once he saved us.
We are now.seeing a team being assembled with little experience.
If this is not a recipe for relegation you tell me
I will not see eye to eye with some people but the way we are going is a gradual wind down.
Last season equal or better replacement for Bennet etc it never happened along with alot of.other promises
Yes it aint perfect, yes he made silly statements in the beginning that in all fairness most folk thought were a bit pie in the sky, but if it happened we'd be happy as!!
The current statement is a sensible one IMO, lets give it a chance, after all it wasn't so great last year with the fortune he spent... and please don't regurgitate your usual conspiracy theories, why not put your energy into supporting the club instead of seemingly trying to find things that aren't there..
If we go down, so be it.. its happened before and will probably happen again sometime, that's life...
Love many, trust afew, but always paddle your own canoe ! My spelling is gash

Re: 2 more signed - Jack Hindle and Astley Mullholland
The evidence so far is that we are gearing up for Evostik Premier League Division One North - perhaps that is where the Holy Grail of ‘sustainability’ waits for us. I wonder if Glorious Leader has factored in gates of 400 for that new target?
Extremely dis-spiriting and pretty much unprecedented in the history of the club, made all the more incredulous that we have a ‘millionaire owner’. I’ll give it another year before Big Bang 2.

Quite agree with the statement of Big E above.
As for Pedro well what can you say.
Just a rehash of the same old claptrap with what little merit is in there swamped by rubbish.
In football if you keep foretelling doom and gloom it will eventually happen.
Even Man Utd went down to the second division (old money).
This is football anything can happen and hopefully Barrow will survive at the present level.
Yes, Paul Casson made statements that were too ambitious but I personally am glad he is here.
The biggest mistake was not having a Ray Wilkie figure (easier said than done).
Ray had the priceless asset of being flyer than the fly boys. No chance of taking advantage of him.
I agree the current statement is a sensible one let’s see if the usual suspects can be sensible as well.

Is this evidence of which you speak on pg 94 ?Wintergreen wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 1:12 pm The evidence so far is that we are gearing up for Evostik Premier League Division One North - perhaps that is where the Holy Grail of ‘sustainability’ waits for us. Think he is being open in the fact that the money's dried up and we are looking for a low spending Manager, we are going to be the Pound World of the National LeagueWintergreen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 9:23 am"...we don't want to change too much..."blue nige wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 8:48 am http://www.nwemail.co.uk/sport/barrow-a ... 5f10aeb-ds

I'd rather be the pound World of the national league than Debenhams trading out of a caravan

Basically if there’s any experienced players still without a club the week before the season starts and thus can be signed on the cheap we’ll go for them. Your not going to find two players like Bennett and Williams in the same season again

Very good.
I’m personally glad the owners for once are being more truthful to the fans & being openly honest about us not having a pot to [SwearFilter] in next season.

Yep. Welcome on board lads. A massive step up
Yes we have to cut our cloth accordingly but we have to compete in this league or people won't pay £18 to watch.
We don't compete, fans don't go, we cut the budget.
If these lads are hungry and give 100% in a Barrow shirt that will do for me.
What I don't like are players who go through the motions and earn a shit load of money doing it.
I can name a few of them.....

The absence of a visible manager tends to make things look a little more desperate than is probably the case.
I think Granite is potentially a very good signing and Waterston showed that he looked capable at the end of last season. As for these two, well if we'd had a manager in place and a stable if mature core from last year, we'd probably applaud the club for scouring the lower leagues for the next Jordan Williams.
Our view of these signings - especially that based on the previous comments on this forum - is inevitably now shaped by whatever perception we have of the way things currently stand at the club. You make the facts fit your perception of things which - not surprisingly - at this moment is pretty negative and indeed is pretty well what the CEO managed to do brilliantly in his recent club statement.
How good these signings might be will depend heavily on the calibre of the next manager. As Paul Ogden was obviously involved in the signings, you can have at least some faith in the probability that some thought was given by somebody to the type of squad that we'll likely end up with next season and therefore the personality if not the actual name of the new manager.
I suppose if this type of thing had been done under Daz/Dave and the Keens we'd have been more inclined to herald it as an achievement. It does also demonstrate that we do have some power of attraction still if not now at the marquee level.
Good luck to the lads. HS crowds tend to appreciate those who give their all for the cause irrespective of their shortcomings. If they can do that then they'll get a good response.
