Barrow v Maidenhead.
Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
I saw plenty of young uns there and lots of new faces in the stand. I hope they had a great day and saw something in the game that brings them back. This club needs to build a fanbase up for the future and this sort of thing today was a fantastic effort all round.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
Bottom line is. Ian Evatt is in his first managers job. He said when he came in that he would play free flowing, passing, attacking football. And that is what we are seeing every week. It's great to watch and a pleasure to look forward to a game for the first time since forever. Most players have come from lower leagues, or are young kids who he has seen who fit in with what he wants from the team. These young kids have been thrown in from the off, not been on the bench for weeks. A risk some might say, me too, but wow, it"s like a breath of fresh air. Embrace it.We might not win the league ( this season) Just think what Ian Evatt could have done with a bigger budget. But we are the best football team in the league by a country mile.
Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
The lead up and passing for that first goal was fantastic.
Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
Absolutely agree 100% GT. Ian Evatt has come here and totally restructured the approach to the game for Barrow. I don’t think I’ve seen a Barrow side with so many players who are so comfortable with the ball. Rooney, Taylor, Kay today- all fantastic, heads up, looking to bring the ball forward and get us off again. Absolute pleasure to watch this side. I hope this is the start of big things for Evatt, Barrow and these players.

What is there to moan about Jonty ( there are the usual ones who wake up on Saturday detrmined to be not only clueless, but completely miserable. They should be banned forever. The attendaces should be 1,000 more with what's on show. But we all know it won't be. I tell everyone I see to go and watch the football that is being played.

Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
We were a class above today. More goals with a more potent strike force. That’s. No detriment to Tyler smith who is a class act but he requieees support. Holden was less impactive.
Taylor was immense....key player again.
Rooney must be one of the best midfielders in this league. It flows thru him via Taylor and Kay. Burgess has the ability but needs to get in the game more. Very good performance and never looked like losing or drawing. Well done team and management . Thank you

Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
Maybe a problem moving forward is the retention of the players. Barrow are being recognised now as a footballing team, which brings scouts from league clubs to view what we have on show. Believe that there were a number of scouts at Holker street today. How many of the current squad were signed on more than a years contract?

Not just the players. If Chesterfield continue to flounder then can't be long before Allen is shown the door. Then the clamour for Evatt to take over will gather at a pace.mr_grey wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 11:14 pm Maybe a problem moving forward is the retention of the players. Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
I'm generalising here but I think where the John Goodwin misunderstanding has probably come about is that John was talking about we need to focus on results more than in his words " tippy, tappy " football and Ian Evatt has probably thought what does this guy know about football as he's never played or managed professionally. I'm sure there was no malice meant in the tippy tappy comments just that results is in the end what this business is all about.

This. It won't be 700 kids. The actual 'freebies' are for those that are bringing the kids if you think about it but alll are counted. Sure, if you offer tickets right through Furness some of our usual support will get back them. Last season we had something like 1150 against Maidenhead.

Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
We took a risk on a manager Chesterfield didn't want, we signed players nobody else wanted.. Lots of people here didn't want them, these players and this manager haven't done anything yet we've played better football and its been nice to watch let's not get carried away.. Lose the next 5 games and you'll be calling for the managers head and calling the players useless

BBC News Syndrome: tendency to revel in anticipating future problems. " Now over to Quinton Summerfield in Barrow......"SKIPPER wrote: ↑Sat Sep 22, 2018 11:30 pmNot just the players. "Well Fiona, Barrow fans are delighting in the current team. they have a bunch of exciting young players, playing some attractive passing football, and a new young manager who has introduced a totally new style of football. But behind the excitement, there is a deep sense of anxiety. What will happen when other clubs come looking for their players or, worse still, their manager. A scout from Millwall was seen at the match and some fans believe that other predators are circling for their manager. If this happens, the club will once again be on a downward spiral and obscurity beckons. Now over to our Economics Editor, Carmel Akmed, for an analysis of the financial implications of relegation......." etc

Re: Barrow v Maidenhead.
If he did say that then I can understand why Evatt was annoyed but having said that it was total unprofessional of Evatt to say anything about it at all, but as a rookie manager perhaps he’ll learn from it.Colin Appleton wrote: ↑Sun Sep 23, 2018 12:38 am John was talking about we need to focus on results more than in his words " tippy, tappy " football
The tippy tippy football brought us three points so both Goody and Evatt should be pleased.
Here’s to another three points on Tuesday.
