And 'I', hope that I am proved wrong as well-I really do.But, at the end of the day when all this investor nonsense has faded into the background, moving down there will be the only option left for the survival of the club and will just prolong the suffering anyway because ultimately the club 'will' die. You say craven park is a s**thole well, of course it is !,much the same as Holker Street is, and I would imagine those at craven park would make sure some of the money from the sale of Holker Street would be invested into tarting the rugby ground up so everything will ultimately be geared for the benefit of the rugby while the soccer play on a shitt pitch as they continue their slide into obscurity while paying a rising rent bill on lower and lower gates till they are evicted. (Remember when their have been fixture clashes in the past ?,it was always the soccer that had to give way-to my knowledge, never the rugby. That's why the soccer will move to craven park, the rugby will dig there heels in and wont budge.)The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 6:12 pmGod forbid...I hope you're proved wrong! Anyone who thinks that them at craven park haven't thought it are kidding themselves. And I'll tell you now, the rugby wont move-it will be the soccer that move to craven park.Either way, the end of the club from what it is now to something like Darlington or Scarborough is inevitable. Anyone that thinks Paul Hornby can get investors from the town on board are, again, kidding themselves because the towns [SwearFilter], theirs no money around and its getting worse. If anyone from this town had money to invest in a sports club, they would have invested at craven park by now-no doubt about that at all.![]()
Five Year Plan

Re: Five Year Plan
National League North eh !. I dont think so-not for long anyway. Lets just say that these investors turn up and thrown x amount of thousands pounds in just to witness the team finish just outside the promotion spots or mid table-will they be prepared to keep that sort of commitment up for seasons to come ?, I really dont think so, especially with the Barrovian public who wont really get behind the team anyway and, on the back of a shrinking economy. The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Wed Nov 14, 2018 3:17 pm I think any fan having thoughts of promotion, either now, or in the near future would be an extreme optimist!
Sadly, I now think our future will be in the National League North - which is looking highly competitive at the moment.

Re: Five Year Plan
Surely if any ground share came about the way forward would be to sell Holker Street and Craven Park and move to a new purpose built stadium which would have plenty of car parking and conference facilities.
Re: Five Year Plan
Yes, in an ideal world !!. The rugby will never sell. They will want money from the sale of Holker street to do their ground up and then rent from the football club thereafter.Colin Appleton wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 9:47 am Surely if any ground share came about the way forward would be to sell Holker Street and Craven Park and move to a new purpose built stadium which would have plenty of car parking and conference facilities.
Re: Five Year Plan
+1 we need a modern stadium that needs less maintenance. Add a gym and 3 G pitch etc to raise money on non match daysColin Appleton wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 9:47 am Surely if any ground share came about the way forward would be to sell Holker Street and Craven Park and move to a new purpose built stadium which would have plenty of car parking and conference facilities.

Re: Five Year Plan
A new purpose built stadium could also incorporate a hotel which would help fund the development. The best of it is the former Brady's ? depot adjacent to Holker Street would be an ideal location. Who owns all of that area?
Re: Five Year Plan
I would welcome a discussion of new ground share between the football and rugby. Cannnot fathom why two struggling clubs continue to overlook this option whilst operating out of dilapidated old stadiums.

Aye...but do they have the money?
I'm talking BIG money - because that's what the club needs to compete - even in the National League.
The top seven should be our prority EVERY season. We have far more history and tradition than most of the clubs in the National League. Having to fight for survival year/year out is one of the reasons why the majority of the town's folk stay away. The town needs a club who's objective should be fighting for re-entry into the FL - NOT fighting to survive each season!
Just because the Midnight Cowboy has f**ked off shouldn't mean we should relinquish our hopes...
Surely there's someone with BIG MONEY out there who can make our dreams come true?

Agree! I suggested similar a few years ago and was informed on here that it was to be sold off for housing. Although I have never heard of or seen any plans. Not sure of the owner either.Colin Appleton wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 12:06 pm A new purpose built stadium could also incorporate a hotel which would help fund the development. There are notices up around the site regarding an application for planning permission for housing. Looks like that one has gone.

Re: Five Year Plan
Meanwhile we're around 17th/18th in terms of attendance, don't have a mega rich owner that will pump in the required amount of money to close the gap on teams with 4/5x the attendance we have. The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 2:12 pmWhen I say 'compete' I mean for promotion. Clubs survive in this league without BIG money. Just got to run it right.

I think a bit of realism is required. Having sustainability and surviving (as a club rather than level) is more important (in my opinion) than going dream chasing whilst racking up an amount of debt and risking the future of the club.
Would rather the money we have be invested into ways to generate more revenue (3G pitch, Pies, Can Bar, Corporate being more affordable etc.). Then reinvest it into things like: Bringing Catering in house, ground improvements etc. as opposed to going FL or bust.

"Surely there's someone with BIG MONEY out there who can make our dreams come true?"...........I really thought you had more sense than to type a ridiculous sentence such as that. Take a look around you.The town of Barrow is f..... and Ulverston is following suit, their's no money in the area. The Tomahawk Kid wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 2:12 pmWhen I say 'compete' I mean for promotion. Jesus you are one miserable [SwearFilter],what do you do for fun?? The towns booming, businesses are flourishing, bae has gone from 2,800 employees up to 9,000 in the last 4 years. House prices are the highest they have ever been, more expensive cars being driven around than ever, tradesmen in the town have never had so much work.Back to the football,we have had [SwearFilter] all for years and survived im sure we can continue in that vain, hard times yes,but some good times along the way. Cheer yourself and try and post something upbeat.mall wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 5:51 pm"Surely there's someone with BIG MONEY out there who can make our dreams come true?"...........I really thought you had more sense than to type a ridiculous sentence such as that. Re: Five Year Plan
The benefits of a ground share surely massively outweighs the negatives, Should have been done decades ago IMO.
