Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Nodding gate is the entrance by the cross bar.
It's used at half time for all the fans wanting a pint also

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Perhaps a ticket could be exchanged at the usual turnstile to show to the steward based at the stand that the appropriate money had been paid. Just one showing whatever the difference is. Shouldn't be hard to implement.barrowfan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 5:50 pm Where is the nodding gate?
Also talk of turnstiles brought to mind something I’ve thought for a while and that is to have one turnstile on the popular side that sells tickets for the grandstand, especially now that people are being charged for the car park. This would mean supporters could walk around the inside of the ground instead of being close to the road, particularly on Wilkie Road.
No doubt this a matter for the Board rather than this group, but is it a practical idea?

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Just a thought, if anyone is in the process of replacing internal or external doors could you let us know please? We’ll save you the bother of a trip to the tip and they’ll be put to good use at the ground. So long as they’re in reasonable Nick they’ll be fine.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Many thanks to the gentleman who gave us a generous donation at last nights game. It was given to me in an envelope & I never got to speak to him in person, so although I know him I’ll not put his name in case he wishes to remain anon.
It’s donations like this that keep us ticking over and allow us to upgrade or fix areas of the ground that require work doing.
An ideal example was yesterday afternoon we had a call saying the lights in the home showers weren’t working, because we’ve had donations of electrical items we went straight to the ground and had them sorted within an hour. Without the cash or materials we have been given, the club would’ve been paying an electrician a call out fee & labour charges.
It all really helps.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Good post Ian. Letting donors and others know what a difference everyone pulling together can make.
Any amount however small can always buy something we can use. A fiver here or there is great. Doesn't have to be large amounts.
When the better weather comes and the close season arrives we are going to need all the help we can get for the outside jobs.
The two leccys Chris Lloyd and Whitty69 have saved the club an absolute fortune as has our joiner Ian Carruthers
They work their socks off and are down the club over and above the Sunday morning sessions. Same for Alan Edwards too. We all chip in but tradesmen are worth their weight in gold.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Many thanks to Graham Chapman who very kindly gave a cash donation for us to spend on materials for ground projects.
We’ve had an offer of six doors, trouble is we don’t have a van to transport them from a local address to the ground. If anyone could help us can you please get in touch? I suppose we’re quite flexible regarding times although Sunday morning would be ideal. It’d be a shame if we can’t find a way of getting them to HS as they’ll come in very handy - and save us money.
Another thing we need some help on is getting quite a few fridges, small ovens and other kitchen appliances to the tip. I’ve spoken to a few scrap metal van owners but they aren’t really interested. We have trailers but no tow bars on cars to get them there. Again, we can be flexible but Sunday morning would work really well as there’ll be plenty of people to help out.
We have another visit planned to the ground this Sunday morning. For anyone interested we’ll be opening up at 9:00. As always after a game there’ll be plenty to do and we’ll definitely be down on litter pickers this week.
Food and hot drinks will be on but it’d be really helpful if we knew how many will be there so we’re not wasting anything.
If you’ve been thinking of popping down one of the mornings give it a go this Sunday, you don’t need a skill to be able to help.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Are there any plans to make more revenue off away fans? Like a bottle bar in away end etc?

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
There was a bottle bar there when we played Rochdale. Is it still fit to use, Ian?
The Hartlepool game could make a few quid, not sure about the rest of the home games.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
If the away supporters have access to alcohol they, as we aren’t, allowed to view the game. That ticket office you refer to Dave was tried under Steve Casson and by the time they’d paid for someone to serve half a dozen people and security to stop them wandering around with cans/bottles it simply wasn’t worth it.
The weather isn’t always the best and the old Vaughan’s car park doesn’t have a roof, an easy fix but for the sake of who will use it...I suppose if it was made into something more comfortable with more things on sale then the club might think about it.
Anyway, vans, trailers, cars with roof racks
we’re desperate for this this weekend.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
I can only remember that Rochdale game because I was flogging programmes there. Austin Straker’s daughter was on duty iirc.
As you allude to, it’s probably not worth it on a hassle v reward basis.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
We still have a couple of jobs Sunday we need help with.
Does anyone have a vehicle with a tow bar so we can shift some old electrical items to the tip? (We have a trailer)
Also, does anyone have a small van and can help for an hour picking up some doors which have been donated?
Thanks
