Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Many thanks to Malcom who gave us a generous donation at the game today. Seeing as we’d just spent a tidy amount on paint this morning- that donation topped us back up.
One more appeal for a van and or car/van with a tow bar in the morning. Either job should only take an hour of someone’s time and it would really help us out. Actually without the van or tow bar we simply can’t do them two jobs.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Hi Ian you are not allowed To take vans to the Tip unless you have a permit And you have to pay for it

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Thanks lads, the van was for the doors we need transporting and the car with a tow bar was to take the old fridges/cookers/microwave etc to the tip.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Get in touch with The Scrap Man on Schneider Road who will take them away for nowt or leave them just outside the car park on Wilkie Road and they will soon disappear!spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 1:07 pmThanks lads, the van was for the doors we need transporting and the car with a tow bar was to take the old fridges/cookers/microwave etc to the tip.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Spoke to several scrap men (including the one you mention) and they aren’t interested because there are things like fridges which they apparently get charged for disposing of.barrowfan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 1:40 pmGet in touch with The Scrap Man on Schneider Road who will take them away for nowt or leave them just outside the car park on Wilkie Road and they will soon disappear!spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 1:07 pm

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Despite the poor weather this morning we had a healthy turn out of volunteers.
As usual the ground, crossbar and corporate areas were cleaned after yesterdays game.
The Electrical problems from yesterday were all fixed after finding the problem.
We lost power to Ian Evatts room, staircase lighting in crossbar, the electric shutters on the ticket office etc
All traced to water ingress after the recent bad weather.
The lighting half way up the staircase has been repaired too as has the office lights.
Mark H, Peter and myself were interviewed by Adam for a piece on BBC radio Cumbria. (Adam will advise when its on)
Then a meeting between the Maintenance team and the directors took place.
We discussed some immediate jobs that need attention then some future jobs and projects that will take place in the close season.
After years of neglect we have a board that's like a breath of fresh air and full of ideas on how to move us forward.
A good discussion on what needs doing and what we as volunteers can help them with.
Thanks once again to Bob in for the breakfast buns.
For all those who want to be involved come on down on a Sunday morning. We have work to take us well into next season
This board need our support and its time to get right behind them.
If anyone can help in other ways whether its financial or supplying materials/tools etc then please get in touch...

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Great news - thanks for the update whitty1969. It seems that everyone is pulling in the same direction for once; well done to the lads & lasses who turn up at Holker Street every week to take on the maintenance & improvement work.
Re: Ground Maintenance Are
Lads- Floodlights. I know not a job for the maintenance volunteers, but what is up with the 3 lamps under the main stand. They keep tripping out. Surely this system is under warranty and the company who installed them need to get back in and fix them once and for all.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Club trying to get the company back which is proving rather difficult for one reason or another.

Re: Ground Maintenance Are
We still have them Everton ones under the main stand but they might BLOW (a 2 goal lead)Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 3:45 pm Lads- Floodlights. I think my fuse had blown yesterday after flashscore pinging away that score and then Kay missing the penalty!whitty1969 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 3:54 pmWe still have them Everton ones under the main stand but they might BLOW (a 2 goal lead)Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 3:45 pm Lads- Floodlights. Re: Ground Maintenance Area
It’s just worth a mention that there were two lads out in that terrible weather this morning collecting litter from inside the ground. They deserve a medal as it was freezing, unfortunately it’s a consequence of people not using the many bins around the ground...which is a shame.
Really useful to have the chat with Paul, Mark & Rob today, as Whitty says, they’re a pleasure to deal with, open, honest and helpful. They do need the help of everyone who supports the club though, dragging a friend along to games, organising a corporate between work colleagues, businesses to buy a ground board, dropping a donation off for us to help maintain & repair the ground. It all helps.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Just a mention that Mrs Hornby and son also appear every Sunday morning too. A nice family outing.
Probably the only time she gets to see him between work and the football.
It's not all about you men you know. All the wives at home keeping things ticking over there.
