Ironic though innit, bearing in mind all the long ball schizz we have witnessed over the years, we get a ‘footballing’ side and end up in the mire. What price success l wonder?

No question, we are a good side.. just elements that need tweaking and some luck

Sounds a bit like us, except they seem to have got over their bad patch.

Pools won one of their first six games this season without ever playing too poorly. They’ve never really had a bad 90-minute spell, it’s just been momentary lapses and errors that have proved costly.

But that has been cut out in recent weeks – the previously shaky and unsure defence and goalkeeper are starting to look confident and dependable.

A simple change in formation to three centre-backs these past four games has seen Hartlepool pick up 10 points out of a possible 12 and keep two clean sheets in the process.

I’ve only seen a couple games this year and the impression I get is where trying to walk the ball in the net rather than having shots! We seem to be overplaying and if I’m honest to do well in this league there’s no point in trying to play Barca football. I watched the class 92 documentary and when they where struggling they went back to basics, didn’t mess about and played from back to front as quick as possible and Lincoln did the same just played of Matt rhead

Whether you play attractively or from back to front as quickly as possible is irrelevent to the main problem which is that we can't defend and that is nothing to do with the system but is because most of our defenders aren't good enough! The goals against column spells it out very clearly.

Got to have players who know how to play that way lots seem to get on the pitch and forget the last instruction

A few people on here having a go at Harrison playing by himself up front wasn't how he played here under Cox he had Bennett running off him same with Quigley we need more bodies getting into the penalty area, I don't know how we play away but at home we seem to be afraid to commit men forward the fullbacks rarely push forward but when they do they don't look too bad ( think we were spoilt last season Smith norrington davies and the young lad from Wigan they were all class players and have been hard to replace).
As for us clicking and hammering some team how long are we going to kid ourselves we can't keep saying we've had no luck bad referees etc were just a mid table team and i would be happy finishing 5th from bottom at the moment!

I am just gobsmaked at that goal. If you are going to be defending that high up the pitch, you’ve got to win that ball, I cannot remember if I have ever seen a Barrow side concede a goal like that. A full direct run in on goal from a fully 40 yards. It goes on and on.

Quite a quirky bit of footage. Look how relaxed their players were.
Playing at home for us has always had its pressures, bad game and results and we loose people coming to watch! Comments regarding playing too safe at home has probably got something to do with not loosing a game and perhaps too nervous to play as we should?
It was their keeper who stopped us from perhaps a decent result, two outstanding saves made all the difference.. all down to rub of the green!
As IE says, it will come good and we will get that bit of luck and things will turn around..
I thought before season started we could push for playoffs, I'm still hoping we can and I guess we have to have some belief in that but unless things turn around a bit quicker, we won't be challenging for a place.
I don't think for one minute that IE and the team will have given up on trying for playoffs, if they did give up now, they may as well not bother turning up!!
But we do have to stick with it, we do have to believe..it's football, it's about fairytales and fantasy it always is and has been..
I'm not giving up on the dream just yet..

Like you, I'm not giving up on them, but unfortunately it's a fact of life that some will, and that's when the economics kick into play. A projected loss of £500,000 (if that's true) could be a case of 'if only'.

Anyway as you say let's 'keep the faith' but just hope that we can soon turn the pretty football into fabulous goals (or any goal at all!).

That figure was from last year after they took over from the previous. Believe that this years figure is much lower.
