I might be wrong of course and if the right £ offer was made, Paul Hornby might be shooing him out of the door, but I just think it is unlikely to happen.

Agree, some of these clubs kicking around the lower reaches of League 2 hardly make for an attractive proposition. It’s more of the same, but plying their trade in the league above. Evatt’s stock is going higher than that if he gets us up.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 11:16 amBut I would say that Fylde with its resources and ambition as a club would represent a better opportunity than Grimsby or Carlisle or Morecambe. And that has already been rejected.TaylorBAFC wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 10:38 am
Agreed. Simon Grayson is doing a very good job there too, so no need to worry about that vacancy opening up for a while yet.

Re: Ian Evatt
Personally I can't see him leaving us this season. Could even be detrimental to his career taking a wrong move at this early stage of it.
Why would you go to a club struggling at the foot of the football league when your top of the league with a game in hand, playing the best football and on a relatively tiny budget in the conference? If he takes us up this season he'll be one of the brightest prospects in the football league and will be linked with a lot bigger jobs then grimsby

Agree Tommylad though when he does leave he will have to do his time in L1/L2 even if he has higher ambitions. He strikes me as pretty smart and quite strategic in his thinking in which case he has probably already developed a broad view of the type of club he'd be a good fit for. That type of club I would guess is not now one with fundamental survival issues. So unless one of those prospects comes up where the appointment would not be a cry for help its difficult to see him leaving this season. And most of those prospects wont even be thinking about changing their managers at this point. His reputation is now such that it probably will not diminish at all before the end of this season. So he's in a win-win situation. If he were to actually get us promoted I think that would rank him alongside if not above the Cowleys in terms of his perceived potential. He must know that.

And perhaps a season in football league with us IF we did actually make it and finish mid table to prove he can cut it?Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 12:23 pm Agree Tommylad though when he does leave he will have to do his time in L1/L2 even if he has higher ambitions. No doubt he has a great career ahead but for now we must simply back him, embrace him whilst he is our gaffer and just enjoy the ride.

You have to smile. The man just has this knack of saying exactly the right things in the right way. If he had led the Charge of the Light Brigade it might have ended differently!
By the way, seen the latest odds on the Grimsby job (as per their forum). As follows:
Kevin Nolan 1/6
Anthony Limbrick 6/1
Ian Holloway 10/1
Pete Wild 16/1
Ian Evatt 20/1
Robbie Stockdale 20/1
Chris Hargreaves 22/1
Andy Welsh 25/1
Craig Disley 25/1
Craig Elliott 25/1
So much for 1/2! How many times as Kevin Nolan actually been sacked in his brief managerial career. See Pete Wild at Halifax is now moving up the runners and riders. And Chris Hargreaves ? I do believe he is the Chris Hargreaves who is the guest pundit on BT Sports when Holtys not around. Thought he had an aversion to travelling north of Watford. Bonkers or what?

Re: Ian Evatt
And the rumour mill from the bookies begins once again. He's now at evens to become the next Cambridge manager.
With success comes being linked with every job under the sun, it seems! They need to get the message he isn't going anywhere, especially not to a bang-average side in the league above.

Just an easy name for bookies to stick on the list as they try to get the market moving - they don't really care if they're way out to begin with.TaylorBAFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 6:23 pm And the rumour mill from the bookies begins once again.
