Re: Decisions being made
Bundesliga players going down with it already.
Stupid idea that Premier league can carry on, all about money, just cancel all leagues now.

Agree, crazy idea to carry on. What if 5 players from a team test positive?boyliegladbach wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 10:27 pm Bundesliga players going down with it already.

Will they be made to play with a weakened team?
Barrow v Wrexham was off as one player from Wrexham didn't feel well....
All needs to be cancelled with a suitable and agreeable way to finalise league positions.
Not null and void as too many games have been played

Re: Decisions being made
Taking even 3 teams wouldn't be an issue in the PL given the way the fixtures are scheduled over the weekend and there would be no need to adjust in one season they could just relegate an extra team over each of the 3 seasons thus making them able to give the extra games to BT/Sky in recognition of their help and the extra money generated from selling the games overseas would be put into a pot to help fund the deficit that each club would suffer by spreading the money between 23 clubs rather than the normal 20.EHB wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 7:19 pm I like the idea of the promotion no relegation idea which will mean 22 clubs in the PL. Problem is how do you reduce that in 2021/22. I cannot see PL clubs voting for 5 teams or even 4 teams relegated. Likewise the same to balance the Championship will mean 6 teams relegated the year after and so on.
But having said that unless something goes spectacularly wrong with the post virus recovery plans it won't happen because they will play the games come hell or high water because Sky have made it patently clear that they're not interested in devising a scheme where the clubs don't play the games and Sky don't cut the funding/recover what they've already paid.
So they will relegate 3 clubs and need 3 to replace them. Now personally I don't think there is the will incentive or viable plan to play the outstanding EFL games which means they just need to come up with a method that everyone could live with to decide the play-off and relegation places and once again for me there doesn't seem any point in organising playoffs as you'd be looking at 4 clubs in each division being in a completely different situation to all the rest of the clubs and the money gained from televising the playoffs would be eaten up by paying all the players for up to an extra month. And it still doesn't solve the issue of the relegation places.
So a solution to both issues is that you take all the clubs that could still mathematically be in the playoffs and relegation places and then run each of them thru the up to four ways of deciding it 1] as it stands.... 2] PPG..... 3] 0 - 0....... 4] Played each other once and then divide by 4 to arrive at the average points total over all four methods and the team with the highest points total is deemed to have won the playoffs and is promoted and at the bottom the teams finishing with the lowest amounts of points would be taken as being relegated.

An issue that can be got round by playing at neutral venues and announcing the match and its timing but not the venue it's being played at as that's totally irrelevant for the tv schedules

And playing at remote locations such as Holker StreetNORTHERNSOUL wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 1:44 pmAn issue that can be got round by playing at neutral venues and announcing the match and its timing but not the venue it's being played at as that's totally irrelevant for the tv schedules

And you think that nobody would find out well before the game?NORTHERNSOUL wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 1:44 pmAn issue that can be got round by playing at neutral venues and announcing the match and its timing but not the venue it's being played at as that's totally irrelevant for the tv schedules

Re: Decisions being made
Simon Weaver says Barrow should be in the playoffs how could that be decided? In the current set up 2nd place goes straight through to a home semi final so would Barrow go straight to the final? He obviously hasn't thought it out ( or his dad got it wrong)

Re: Decisions being made
I dont think Liverpool re quaking in their metaphorical boots about what happens in the NL. Nice story trying to make Barrow the hub. However the NL would swoon at the thought of having that much influence. They dont. Just the opposite. They are terrified (or should be) of making a decision that screws up the higher leagues in any way.
As you point out Nige there is definitely a clique which likes the idea of play-offs without a champion - no surprise that includes Simon Weaver. Whilst others are battling over whether to declare or void however, it would a very odd decision to do neither in favour of a set of play-offs that may never take place.
The fundamental flaw with the suggestion is that it is built around the one team only goes up approach. Now that might even prove to be right but you can get to a one team up conclusion far more simply than through play-offs. Also I dont see how the NL can at this moment take that decision in advance of the EFL announcing it. If I were the NL I wouldn't take any decision at all. Or at least one that was not binding on anybody.
Re: Decisions being made
What a difference in perception just a half hour extra journey can make. We can be in Liverpool/Manchester in 2hrs 15 and London by train in 3:30. Another article that implies we are on the moon.
We were dumped out the league (after 50 years) because the pitch was ruined by the speedway track and Hereford were the media darlings after beating Newcastle.

Simon Weaver really needs to have a word with himself if he seriously believes any play offs will take place in our division

Re: Decisions being made
They need to stop [SwearFilter] around and make a decision.. Its getting boring now and the constant - Barrow were going to bottle it nonsense is [SwearFilter] me off, over 80% of the league we were the best side.. Season is declared finished we are top we are the champions. Sick of reading deluded Notts County fans.(can't help but see it) . They weren't a good side even the day the beat us.
Play offs taken place is just not going to happen, Premier league won't happen games will get called off as soon as a player tests positive.
The survival of the club is more important but we should be going in league 2 anything else will be very disappointing

Re: Decisions being made
The Vanarama season ended and Barrow finished top of the tree that’s what everyone needs to accept.
We shouldn’t have to go into any play-offs.
Notts County were utter garbage in the last game until Quigley got sent off.
