Ian evatt

It's obvious Ian wants to go, so I'm hoping were looking for a new manager now , the board made a good choice last time and I'm confident they can do the same this time . Wish him good luck but I think he's making the wrong decision. But were barrow like the Phoenix we will always rise again.

We always knew he would move on sooner or later if he was successful but I had hoped he would have had the integrity to ensure that Barrow received everything that was written in his contract when he got his new one with an apparent large increase. Like you, I don't happen to think this move is a very good decision on his part but we shall see. I would certainly be very happy if we finished higher than Bolton in Division 2.

Wintergreen will probably come up with a ditty, but two songs keep going round in my head: ‘should I stay or should I go’ and ‘you picked a fine time to leave me Lucille’.

The board didn’t appoint Ian Evatt; the Cassons did

I'm sure the feelers are already out. Also sure some out of work (and perhaps some not out of work) mangers have been in touch. We need to look after ourselves, first and foremost i.e. we need to be ready if Evatt wants to leave.

Personally I think that if the deal fell through I don't think he would be 100% committed now his head been turned by a supposed bigger club, I just hope the contracted players want to play for barrow and not Ian, so let's get the compo , new manager hopefully have some funds for a few good signings. And yes henneysknee your right it was the cassons who appointed him sorry I wasn't thinking properly.

Ste i agree It should be clear cut - but I have seen enough Contract disputes to know that ‘interpretations ‘ can vary even on something black and white

I guess it depends on what the clauses say - if it says compensation is £xxx whatever then it’s easy
If however it says it is some sort of formula depending on length of contract remaining - division Barrow are in - Or other factors etc then it could be open to interpretation

Obviously as the offer has been rejected it means Barrow are confident in their interpretation and now it’s down to Ian Evatt to decide if he wishes to breach his contract by resigning to go to Bolton (who obviously want him and he must have a desire to go otherwise it wouldn’t have got this far) - if he did then it’s over to the lawyers to sort out

Personally I am glad that the owners have rejected it if they don’t feel it is sufficient compensation as it shows the clubs professional approach to things

Let’s see if it is the end of the matter
Sorry. Can somebody clarify. Has there been a rejection of the bid from Bolton in the last couple of hours? If so where has this been reported?
Sorry SB I misread some previous reports from Radio Cumbria which implied an offer had been rejected this morning and thought it had been rejected - I’ve edited my post re this

Not sure
Stance we reported on this morning was that a bid was made which was described as derisory this morning and was rejected. We expect that Bolton would come back in with another bid but it’s believed that they don’t want to go higher than 100k

That’s the last we had

In the meantime Evatt is still contracted to be the Barrow manager and should be doing his job, like drawing up his retained list, and telling those that are not on his list that they are no longer wanted, and then communicating it to the media.

Anyone know if this is happening or has he stopped doing his job whilst being courted by another club offerering what has been reported to be a ridiculous figure of compensation to Barrow?

Adam this isn't a dig just a question. A few days ago you wrote on this forum "honestly there ain't some flapping on here. Evatt will not be going to Bolton" you seemed quite adamant he would be staying put with some of your other posts as well as you went on to say the only time Ian Evatt would be visiting Bolton would be to sit in the opposition dugout as you're the Barrow commentator people obviously think you have more of an inside track on what's going on at the club than most so I just wanted to ask are you still confident he won't be leaving? BTW I hope you're right and he stays.
