Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
They will be able to stand in the West Terrace I think...but what will be different is that they won't be able to get to the Cross Bar or the new fanzone during the game. But that's only my understanding and regulations and the SAG, even in the last few weeks, has seen plans have to be changed.
I think, once the managerial dust is settled, the club will get going on sharing a number of matters. But aren't quite there yet because there is still a bit of firming up to do on the plans. Again, all I can do is say how hard they are all working.
Just one (and there are dozens) example is the Press Box has to find six more pitch facing seats to get up to 20. And then we have to provide a structure to house television people, a control room with CCTV, electronic turnstiles and on and on it goes. Seats for away fans, new entrances, the new fanzone, increase the height of some external walls, sort out the car park which we will need to use for visitors spaces. Better disabled facilities, better access and walkways, increased catering outlets and opportunities, New toilets. Access to walk round the ground. Running repairs to the Main Stand and under there to create new changing rooms etc by the end of the season.
And the small matter of re-roofing the Holker End and providing proper crush barriers etc.
And then there's all the usual start of the season stuff. Sponsors, season tickets, bookings and new kits and merchandise. Against the backdrop of a global pandemic.
Mostly in 2-3 months.

Also I believe that Boston Utd’s new ground is council owned same as many other if the new stadiums throughout the leagues with the club as anchor tenants, the BoD would not have to fund the whole project themselves, it would require outside investment. It’s a well worn path that many clubs have had to go down I believe the council would be supportive and it could well be the centre piece of any docks redevelopment.
It just needs to will to do it and the belief that we CAN do it.
Honest, these things have all been discussed, never mind a marina, a community stadium as the crown jewel of docks redevelopment would serve far better to the town than a marina (who owns these yachts anyway?) etc, this debate goes back to 2007.

The club own Holker street
Why would you sell your house and start renting?
Only way it would ever work would be if it was a lease to buy situation club need to be making money from the ground not handing it over to the council

Fair play! Lots of stuff needed following promotion most probably don't think of or knew about.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 7:31 pm They will be able to stand in the West Terrace I think...but what will be different is that they won't be able to get to the Cross Bar or the new fanzone during the game. I had a walk round with Steve last week, and the amount of work that needs doing is unbelievable. I'm sure in the near future a call to arms will be requested to get us over the line in time for the start of the season.barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 7:31 pm They will be able to stand in the West Terrace I think...but what will be different is that they won't be able to get to the Cross Bar or the new fanzone during the game. Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
As Steve mentions above, the work that needs to be done to meet EFL regulations due to the promotion is unbelievable - it’s actually quite frightening.
I also think talk of moving and various other luxuries that have been mentioned are way way way off the mark, where does the money come from? It’s got nothing to do with “mentality” or “little old Barrow” - it’s just hard cash facts.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
What is required to be done is an eye opener and very costly and full credit to all involved for putting time and money into it. I think the argument for moving to another location is that this would all be done and we would have a ground to take us forward for the next generations. How we would fund it has always been the blocker, it would clearly need an ownership model between Barrow AFC / Other private investors and probably Barrow Council, but i don't see issue with that if it gave Barrow a platform to grow as a club. It would open up a lot of new opportunities.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Is there a Schedule of Works like a Gaant Chart / Work Breakdown Structure type of thing been put together to work to, or is there a company coming in to do the work at the ground?spirit of 1990 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 8:19 pm As Steve mentions above, the work that needs to be done to meet EFL regulations due to the promotion is unbelievable - it’s actually quite frightening.

Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
Sort of, to the best of my knowledge.
There's' an action tracker; of what's to be done and there are plans which have been adapted several times, out of necessity.
Bridgewater are doing quite a lot of it probably I guess.
I think Chris Wilkes is the driving force in terms of building. He was instrumental in the submission to the Football League in the first place. The board I do know are meeting weekly, where they go through the actions and there isn't a day goes by one of them isn't down there.
But running a football club is an entirely illogical enterprise in many ways. There are basic principles of planning and business that are tried to obviously make things work but promotion, relegation, managerial appointments, guidelines and a thousand things come hurtling out of left field.
From my admittedly limited understanding, they are doing a sterling, challenging job.

Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
Sounds like it’s a good job the season is starting later than usual!
Shame the Steelworks End will be shut for reasons mentioned above but mainly for those familiar faces you’ve seen stood in those same spots for years.......however it’s one of those things that comes with success. Guess if we had the funding the crossbar building will come down and a proper terrace would be built on that end eventually?

Are all these jobs a requirement to be completed by the start of the season, as there's specific ground compliance/regulations for initial entry into the EFL, and additional rules for continued membership over a certain timescale. Think these have been shown on a particular thread in the past.

Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
Thanks for the info Steve (previous). It's good to know that there is a bone fide project group i.e. Bridgewater on site who can carry out works in a proper manner; this is where we would have fallen down in the past and what Paul Casson lacked during his tenure. Semper sursum.

Some for the start of the season, others have a period of grace of up to three years.
The ground requirements document is worth a read and has been linked many times on here in various threads. Alternatively search for EFL Membership Criteria.
