I can't believe people actually believe Stockport will pay reportedly 75k and a 3 year contract to then loan him out to Bolton

No neither can i

But I wouldn't be surprised to find out that in 3 months time he cant settle at Stockport and guess who comes in to rescue him from his misery for a fee of 150k and in the process managing to circumvent the BAFC/BWFC transfer embargo agreement.

A nice little deal for Stockport a 75k profit on the deal and probably a couple of Bolton kids on a free loan for the year to pad out their squad numbers.

A cunning plan by Evatt and Rooney's agent with the connivance of Stockport who have been promised a profit? I suppose as a conspiracy theory it's a bit more plausible than Elvis being alive or Megan Markle being a droid.

Exactly, they can't. The transfer embargo affects all dealings for the next year but the agreement with us is for 2 years.

True re the transfer embargo but the agreement with us will not apply once he moves to Stockport so Bolton could buy him next year if they wanted to and Stockport would sell.

I was under the impression the deal with Bolton was only for contracted players. If John Rooney had stayed with Barrow he could have signed for Bolton at the end of the season because he only had one year left on his contract. The only contracted player who has two years left is Scott Quigley.

Website has a response from the club which includes:

"We were looking forward to seeing John grace the pitches of League 2 but once it became clear he didn’t want to play at our new level we needed to respect his wish to stay in the National League."

Weird that an ambitious professional wouldn't want to move into the EFL, particularly at his age. However, if the NL is his comfort zone, then we need to look for players who have more belief in their ability. I'm sure DD and the BOD will find such players.

If he’s just signed three year deal with Stockport and they get promoted, hmmm, lets have a think about that one. I’m not saying we should have offered him a 3 year deal, but he has to think about what is best for him.

Three year deal would clinch it , and probably on more money , closer to home and , given that many say that NL and EFL 2 standard is similar, I’m not convinced on the ‘I don’t want to play in EFL’ line .

Anyway good luck JR - you were brilliant last year and deservedly NL player of the season
