Re: Season Tickets
Lot of work for not a lot of benefit. SWE will probably closed until we've got a couple of grand spare to put some crush barriers up. Will only add a few hundred onto capacity.mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 3:40 pmI fully understand the club has been working around the clock to get everything L2 compliance etc & the virusSefton Aubergine wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 1:16 pm I don't think this figure of 6,200 is confirmed and might be difficult to achieve with the Steelworks End empty.ongoing but would the club be allowed to put a few rows of seats onto the Steelworks terracing during the season, Once things calm down a bit??
Re: Season Tickets
Do we need crush barriers in the SWE, the terrace is only 4 steps deep, a lot less than anywhere else in the ground where there's barriers installed.JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 10:24 pmLot of work for not a lot of benefit. Re: Season Tickets
According to the rules and regs, we do yes.
Otherwise it would be allowed to be open as it is without them.

Re: Season Tickets
it would be cheaper to remove the small terracing - then maybe they wouldn't need any barriers? If so it could then be used.Paul wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 10:34 amDo we need crush barriers in the SWE, the terrace is only 4 steps deep, a lot less than anywhere else in the ground where there's barriers installed.JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 10:24 pm

the existing terracing isn't solid concrete - from memory it's mainly "beam and block" flooring which will be very easy to remove in comparison.

It’s to do with walkways
Every stand has to have a walkway for safety reasons

Re: Season Tickets
I think the problem is not the terracing itself but the fact there has to be a flat area for access of whatever width the regs stipulate and then the terracing, seats or whatever that has to be separated by a crush barrier, like that added at the bottom of the HSE terrace for example.
Remove the terracing you would still need the crush barrier to separate one flat space from another.
Edit: Summed up by Adam much more concisely.

Re: Season Tickets
The area behind the pitch side wall on the HSE up to the first barriers (about 1m) is to be kept clear on match days. The same will apply to the SWE, even if the step terracing were removed that would leave about 1.5-2m of usable space, simply not worth it after putting piles and the crush barriers in.
I suppose the only way around it would be if the club could move the pitch more towards the HSE and increase the amount of space available on the SWE, which would not be a cheap project and hardly worth it as things stand.
*Thanks Mark Webb, a nice gesture and appreciated mate.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
