He has never worked like that. Credit to Adam Johnson who keeps asking the questions but getting answers is like pulling teeth. When asked the words hopefully and we will have to wait and see are used. Those answers do not do anything to nip rumour and conjecture in the bud instantly IMO.

Maybe we should have a daily press conference with a graph showing latest injuries and a summary from the club's medical adviser? ;)

(For older readers) he is the embodiment of "Neasden Rovers' tight-lipped manager Ron Knee".
Don't let the old man in.

Just because that extreme would be completely ridiculous, it doesn't make the extreme opposite end of the scale any less so which is what we are getting.

Somewhere in the middle would be nice, but at the moment we are told zero.

For me it doesnt need to be Dunn himself telling us. A weekly update "from the physio" with a bit of detail about who is being treated, for what, and how that is coming along is all thats needed.

There are examples of this being done in match programmes and on club websites from various clubs and various levels.

If he persists with this "cards close ot his chest approach" then unfortunately he will lose even more favour than he is doing in some quarters regarding the results.

It's such a strange media tactic as the benefit from remaining so secretive on injuries is undoubtedly negligible. Maybe we shouldn't announce any signings until 2pm on the Saturday either!

If you say a player should be back training in a couple of weeks, the opposition still have no idea whether they will feature in the starting line-up or even the squad for any particular game. That is why clubs universally provide updates even if they are kept fairly vague - a few weeks, a couple of months, etc. Supporters are emotionally (and often financially) invested in the club and understandably have an interest in such matters, it's respectful to keep them in the loop.

It's a minor issue all things considered and I'd gladly sacrifice a weekly injury update for a win on Saturday...

Can sometimes indicate that the person being asked hasn't a clue, or is giving a politician's answer! ;)

Does anyone know how Our Injured Jone's is surely with him being carried off everyone knows it must be quite bad, possibly knee ligaments which would rule him out for most of the season if not all of it. as the owner of Norwich said "lets be aving it"

I can't really see the positives in making injury information public domain. Why give the opposing team an advantage by knowing a player definitely won't be playing in the next game and allowing them to prepare for the match accordingly? Or allow the player to have the particular part of their anatomy (ooh er) that was injured targeted by a strong challenge when they return? Or potentially reducing their value in the transfer market? Or not even looked at as a transfer target as they are seen as a crock? The players will be back when they're back. Can't see the fascination myself.
How does it make you feel to know that you voted for this?

And how many of our competitive games out the 7 we have played in 90 minutes using this tactic have we won?
Covid has stopped us getting to games but the lack of communication is killing it further.
Last year we were all in it together ,but these tactics are creating us and them

We’re not expecting War & Peace from David Dunn here, nor do I believe we’re asking for it.

Take the Jones injury, a simple statement along the lines of “Jones will be undergoing a scan to determine the severity of his injury” would’ve sufficed, followed up with the injury he has suffered and the likely timescales he’ll be out for.
